Is Alastor a feminist or a misogynist? Yes and no. (My thoughts on this. You can ignore this if ya want)
The current drama on Hazbin Twitter (well, one of many) is Alastor is a misogynist because he slapped Vaggi’s ass in the pilot, Annoys/messes with her (and Charlie) in the show, manipulates and toys with Charlie and calls Susan a bitch. And… I don’t think that makes him a misogynist so much as more showing him being outdated and just how he is with everyone not specifically a misogynist.
Slapping Vaggi’s back/ass: ISN’T GREAT, but also is a thing he did to purposely annoy someone who he sees as an obstacle and a nuisance to his future plans with Charlie. So he disrespected her in return (Him choosing to do that as the act does show something else tho. And it’s kinda evidence of something else-
Messing/Manipulating/Toying with Charlie and Vaggi: This is the quickest to cover because the reason is pretty clear, he does this to EVERYONE. He sees nearly everyone around him as either playthings, enemies, or pieces of a plan (usually a combination of those three depending on the person).
Calling Susan a bitch: He said this to two individuals that have reasons to dislike her (He prob already knew Rosie’s opinion of Susan, hence why she immediately agreed with the comment. She might’ve even said it in the past and he was just repeating the sentiment. And for Charlie? He seem to know Charlie was going to have trouble with the whole thing and figured Susan would end up antagonizing Charlie/making Charlie hate her), so it wasn’t just insulting a woman for the sake of it. It was reinforcing popular opinion on a person everyone seems to dislike.
So, Alastor’s not sexist? Not exactly. The thing is…He’s a hypocrite to a pretty good extent. I think he does genuinely respect women more than men but that his overall respect of people in general isn’t that high. To him, there’s no issue using a sexist act against an enemy/person he dislikes because to him it’s just a vague negative act. A thing I would compare it to is him obviously having an issue with people who believe themselves inherently superior to sinners, specifically to him (Adam and Lucifer for example), but still using his power/position to make himself superior to others (Is an Overlord and owns souls). Another thing to consider is he probably is surprisingly progressive for his original era, but I don’t think he would keep up that well with modern morals and views and I don’t think he would be the type to self-evaluate anything he’s internalized over the years (this man refuses to try to understand his dynamics with people AND HIS OWN EMOTIONS AND BEHAVIORS)
So yeah. I don’t think he’s a misogynistic asshole. He’s just an asshole from the 1930s with little self-reflection and hypocrisy. :)
Edit: I usually dislike doing these type of things but I forgot to add something and it felt weird adding it here without addressing it. Forgot to add my exact view of Al's bias towards men and women. He seems to have very shallow and inherently negative views of men (seeing their worst traits first and assuming the worst of them). But, his view of women also seems really flawed because while he does seem them more as complex people, he still is very much blinded by 1930s views of women (specifically that they are less likely to be violent or a threat to him).
