This essay was written by Rev. Ralph Smith, a missionary in Tokyo, Japan, and a regular contributor to Theopolis.Jeffrey Epstein called our bluff.Writing in the New York Times, James B. Stewart reports Epsteinās opinion that ācriminalizing sex with teenage girls was a cultural aberration an
We call Epstein a monster. We recoil and condemn. But he called our bluff. Almost no one is willing to admit that Epstein was right: His behavior falls well within historical norms.
So, what happened to change all of this? Why is modern Western culture sensitive to this matter? What made our modern/postmodern world different? This is the question. But no one is asking it. Why not? Because the answer is too embarrassing to admit.

2. Does your OC have a temper?
To a degree, yes. He can get pretty snappy pretty quickly, especially if he was in a foul mood already. Heās the worse when heāsintoxicated though, which is another reason why he abstains from alcohol, besides the fact his parents were killed by a drunk driver. But yeah, he canget nasty at times.
14. If you could compare your OC to an animal, what wouldthey be?
A peacock. Heās one of the most flamboyant personalities, which suits the flair and dĆ©cor of the peacock!
21. Do they suffer any mental disorders?
He suffers PTSD, which stemmed from the loss of his parents.See, the incident traumatized him to a great extent since he had such a closebond with his parents. He suffers through nightmares, specifically repeatingthe events of the aftermath of the accident. He went to the scene where it occurred, and the paramedics hadnāt fully cleaned up, so he was exposed to a lot ofthings he likely shouldnāt of been. This is also a reason why he refuses todrink, or get his license ā he doesnāt want to get in an accident and affect achild, much like how he was. That and he inherited a fear of driving from thewhole situation, even though he himself was not present in the vehicle at thetime. He uses the anti-anxiety medicine prazosin as a method of dealing withthe nightmares and anxiety, and dabbled in cognitive behavior therapy for ashort while as another treatment method.
7. Something theyāre proud of?
His career, and his budding reputation in GothamāsUnderworld. It took a lot for him to get this far, so he feels pretty smug.
Lynnette ā
2. Does your OC have a temper?
Oh god she has a monstroustemper ā like, when she gets at it, she can rant for a solid two hoursabout the smallest of things. Topics range from burnt bagels to a woman whohand change over thatās covered in lotion. She also has a habit of insultingpeople around her, which she apologizes later on about with great regret.
14. If you could compare your OC to an animal, what wouldthey be?
Probably a honey badger. Sheās a resilient person, and alsoreally likes food, so it suits!
21. Do they suffer any mental disorders?
Besides stress about school, she doesnāt really suffer anymental health issues.
7. Something theyāre proud of?
Sheās proud about her medals she earned in school sports.Sheās especially good at the rugby team, and likes to brag about all thetackles sheās done, as well as recount stories of memorable moments in gamessheās played!
Ā Ralph ā
2. Does your OC have a temper?
Ralph has no temper. Heās the type of guy to just shrugthings off. If you insult him, heāll shrug it off. Break something of his, heāllshrug it off but probably ask you to pay for it. Things donāt really botherRalph.
14. If you couldcompare your OC to an animal, what would they be?
Probably a puffer fish. Probably because when you get himranting about something he enjoys, his presence just seems to increase in theroom (along with the volume of his voice).
21. Do they suffer any mental disorders?
Ralph doesnāt suffer any sort of disorders. He gets anxiousabout school, yes, but itās more of normal stress than actual anxiety disorder.
7. Something theyāreproud of?
Receiving the Darwin Award of Professor Craneās class. Hestuck it on the mantle above his fireplace, and even made a little plaque forit. What an honor! That, and his academic awards heās achieved, especially inEnglish and History. See, heās really good at teaching and such, and I wrotehim as being the potential successor to the psychology department of GothamUniversity in the future, even though it seemed he sucked at psychology. His perfume business. Itās his baby, you know? His pride andjoy - Ā and the only memory of his motherhe has left is through her notes that he uses to create his perfumes. So itāssomething he cares for deeply.
12. Are they a morning person or a night owl?
Oh god, heās a morning person. Weāre talkin up at 6 am, wideawake and ready to go, which is a feat in itself to be honest. Ā
Ā Lynnette ā
9. ^
She really loves her stamp collection. Itās a weird hobbyher and her father started together, and she really treasures each and everystamp she gets. They all tell a story, and in her eyes, theyāre all valuableaf.
12. ^
Sheās definitely a night person. Even the strongest ofcoffees would not be able to rouse her before 11 am at the earliest, which ismainly why she gets all the afternoon shifts when working Sylvesterās store.
Ā Ralph ā
9. ^^
He loves his old book collection. Now, he got mocked a lotfor asking stupid questions in his psych class, but if you get him on the topicof classical literature he could ramble for hours about topics ranging fromOscar Wilde to the controversies of Josephine. Heās extremely passionate aboutnovels such as that.
12. ^
Heās definitely a night person. He gets more done when itāsdarker out then he does in the morning, and if he wakes up too early heāllforget things and just generally be a mess. Save this boy like honestly.Luckily for him Craneās classes were in the afternoon.
