We have a large liquid amber tree in our front yard. Although Autumn is nearly over, it is still dropping its leaves. They spread to the neighbours yards and sometimes all the way up the street.
Each day I try to rake/sweep them up and each morning there are just as many there again. I look up at the tree and see that it still has most of its leaves - these will all eventually fall. It will be a long time of committing to the daily routine of trying to deal with the mess.
My daily leaf raking routine has become symbolic of the daily hospital routine with my husband's illness. Each day we try and deal with the things that have dropped into our lives - and we get through another day - and we know it will all be there tomorrow to face again.
One day the tree will be bare - it will be Winter - as new growth sits below the surface waiting to burst forth in Spring.
My husband waits for new growth as his nerves & muscles 'come back' from their Winter sleep ... Spring is coming!
The seasons of our lives come and go ...
