It was a quiet night, a gentle breeze of the cool spring air slightly rustling the curtains of your open window. You groaned and shuddered slightly as it hit your naked skin, your blankets useless against the cold, as they were all piled up at the foot of your bed. The full moon bathed the room in a dim light, making it easier for the man carefully sliding into bed next to you to find you.âShhh, Love, itâs alright. Iâm here.â His arms wrapped around you, his body radiating heat you so desperately needed. âI didnât hear you come inâ, you managed to mumble, though barely awake. âI didnât want to wake you.â Scrambling to move closer to him you too wrapped your arms around him, legs intertwining, closing the last bit of space left between the two of you. âLoki?â âYes, Love?â âI missed you.â Pressed against his chest you couldnât see the small smile on his lips, or the pure bliss on his face. He was home. His steady heartbeat was already slowly soothing you back to sleep and you didnât hear him telling you how he had missed you too, neither did you feel the soft kiss he placed on the top of your head.
How he wished he could always be with you like this. Have you fall asleep in his arms every night, waking up to your sight every morning. Each day you were separated his heart longed for you and each night he came to see you he prayed time would stop and he would never have to leave you again. Only with you in his arms he felt complete and life seemed to make sense. But fate was cruel like that and all he could do was cherish the little time he had with you.
Morning came way too soon and as the first rays of sunshine appeared on the horizon he forced himself to let go of you, careful not to wake you. It broke his heart everytime he had to leave but he couldnât bear to stay away from you for too long either, repeating the cycle again and again. Gently he draped the blankets over your frame again, so you wouldnât freeze without him in the cold early hours of the day. He couldnât help the smile on his face as he watched you cuddle into the soft fabric, his only wish that he could enjoy this sight for a little while longer.
âForgive me love, but I must return home to Asgardâ, he whispered, placing a last kiss on your forehead before forcing his eyes away from you. He knew exactly leaving you only got harder the longer he waited, and yet everytime he just didnât have it in him to simply walk away.
When you finally awoke your bedroom was brightly lit by the sun already. Turning to your side you looked at the empty spot next to you. Had it all been a dream? Had he even been here at all or had you imagined it all? A sigh escaped your throat as you grabbed the pillow next to you, burying your face in it, trying to recall the memories from last night. Breathing in a smile crept onto your face as you recognized his scent. You inhaled deeply, closing your eyes, imagining he was still here, savoring every second of it. But your joy didnât last for long. Yes, he might have been here, but now he was gone again and once more you were all alone. It was a bittersweet thought and you were slowly losing the battle against your tears.
It took you a while to notice the folded piece of paper on the nightstand. More proof he had truly been here. He often left you little notes around the place, since he mostly appeared at night when you were asleep already and left early in the morning. But this one was different. This one gave you a hope you hadnât felt in a long time.

Pacing up and down all along the back wall of his prison cell, his brows furrowed, he was desperately trying to rid his mind of any thought about you. He had seen you when they brought him in front of Odin, he had seen the worry in your eyes. You had never been very good at hiding your emotions and you couldnât deny that even after years of being separated from him it broke your heart to see him like this. Sure, for as long as you had known him he had always been one to get himself in trouble a lot, but despite this you had never expected to see him in chains, about to be locked away. For Loki though what he saw was only a sign that you did still care about him.
And now, his head was full of memories. Memories of all the good times you had spent together, of your smile, your scent, the feeling of your lips against his and your gentle touch. Alone in his cell, he had way too much to think and he couldnât get your picture out of his mind. It was as if it had only been yesterday that you left him, when in reality it had been years already. He felt pathetic for still missing you, but the sight of you had brought feelings in him back to the surface he thought were long gone. He wanted, no, he needed you back.
Of course, it had all been his fault. He had never appreciated what he had with you until one day youâve had enough. But admitting when he was to blame had never been one of his strengths.
It was already a big step to admit that he missed you. And now he couldnât get that out of his mind. You had known each other for as long as he could remember, had promised each other as children that you would get married one day. Not that he had ever taken this childrenâs promise too serious, but nevertheless it had always seemed like it was simply meant to be. At least to him.
Until that fateful day a few years ago. He didnât want to remember. He didnât know where it had all gone so wrong. You had always seemed happy, or at least so he had thought. Or had he simply been too blind? Never would he forget the first time you told him you loved him. The first time you kissed. The first time you spent the night together. The feeling of your naked body against his, the warmth of your breath against his skin. Holding each other tight afterwards and how perfectly you seemed to fit into his arms. Now it all seemed to be lost.
He wanted to scream, ram his head against the wall, anything to get these thoughts out of his head and maybe make his heart a bit lighter. No, no, he told himself, he had to keep it together. Sooner or later he would get out of here, he would find you and make you his again, everything would be as it was supposed to be.
Outside of his cell you had been watching him pace for a while now, he had been so deep in thought he hadnât even noticed you yet. As you cleared your throat he flinched, turning to look at you. âLokiâŠâ you started, not sure how to continue. âWhat are you doing here?â He snapped at you, harsher than intended. âIâve come to talk to you, though you donât seem very eager toâ A defeated sigh escaped his lips. If only you knew, there was nothing he wanted more. âForgive me, what have you come to talk about?â âIn fact, I came to say goodbye.â âGoodbye? What do you mean?â âIâm getting married in a few days. This is the only time Iâll come to visit you. Even if you should get out of here again one day, we probably wonât see each other much.â âMarried? What do you mean you are getting married? We promised each otherâŠâ âLoki⊠we were children.â
He couldnât believe it, or he simply didnât want to. He thought you had broken his heart back when you first left him, but this? This was much worse. âBut⊠but I thought you loved me?â Never had you thought you would hear his voice so desperate, so full of heartbreak. You had known this wouldnât be easy but you hadnât expected it to hurt you so much too. âI did. I ⊠I think I still do. But we both know weâre not good for each other and for once in my life I had to choose my own happiness.â He shook his head in disbelief. âNo, no! You canât do this to me! We were meant to be! You promised!â âIâm sorry. Fare well Loki.â Those were your last words to him before you left. You still heard him screaming behind you, but you couldnât turn back, couldnât let him see your tears. It was better like this, you knew it was. But that didnât mean it hurt any less.
In his cell Loki had went on a rampage. Books and furniture went flying. It wasnât like him to lose his composure like this but he had never felt pain like this before. How could you? How could you simply move on? Had he meant nothing to you? His knuckles were bloody from when he had hit the wall out of rage. But slowly the anger was fading away and the sadness was setting in.
Defeated he slid down the wall to sit on the floor, his face buried in his hands. He had truly lost you. All this time, he had thought he could win you back anytime, now he couldnât believe how wrong he had been. Never in his life had he felt so empty, so lost. Tears were streaming down his face. You had been everything to him, he had considered you the love of his life. His whole life he had thought he would grow old by your side, that youâd live happily ever after. He knew he messed it all up himself, but he thought he had all the time in the world to fix it. But he had been wrong. And now it was all too late. You would be happy by another manâs side.
Stars were shining bright on the night sky of Asgard, as you were taking a lonely walk through the palace gardens. There was a huge gathering in the palace, celebrating yet another successful battle and you had simply needed to get away from the crowd for a bit. You had needed some peace and quiet to calm down and collect your thoughts, before youâd do something you would later regret. Taking some deep breaths seemed to work as through the soothing night air your anger was slowly fading away.
Completely lost in thought, you were looking at the stars, entirely unaware of your surroundings until you heard a noise behind you. Startled, you quickly spun around, facing the direction the noise had come from. Your body relaxed when you were met with a familiar face, but only for a moment, before you remembered the scene you had watched back at the palace.
âLove, what are you doing out here all alone?â âIâm just taking a walk, there are too many people, I had to get away for a bit.â âWell, why didnât you tell me? I would have joined you.â âI wanted to be alone. And besides, you seemed to be busy.â âOh Love, you know I am never too busy for you.â He tried to grab your hand, but you pulled away, simply turning back around to continue your walk. You heard him sigh behind you, followed by quick footsteps to catch up with you. âSo, will you tell me whatâs wrong or not? Are you mad at me?â âItâs nothing. I just wanted to be alone and get some fresh air.â He grabbed your arm, forcing you to stop. âIf itâs nothing, then why are you pushing me away?â âIâm not pushing you away, Loki. As I said, I just wanted to be alone for a bit.â
He shook his head, clearly not believing you, but he knew it was hopeless when you didnât want to talk. âMind if I join you for a bit anyway?â âFine...â Reluctantly you agreed.
You walked side by side in silence for a while when you couldnât bear it any longer. âWho was she?â He knew when not to push you to talk, because he knew just as well it wouldnât take you too long to tell him anyway. After your question however, he seemed sincerely confused, but you didnât quite buy it. âWho?â âDonât take me for a fool, Loki, the woman you were talking to before.â âI would never. She was a nobody, just some friend of Thor he wanted to introduce me to.â
It wasnât hard to tell that you werenât at all satisfied with his answer. He grabbed your arm once more, much gentler this time. âLove, stop. Look at me.â Stopping by his side you turned to face him. His heart nearly stopped when he saw the look on your face. Never before had he seen you like this. He knew he should have followed you sooner, he couldnât bear the thought of you suffering, even less so when it was because of him. Gently he placed a hand on your cheek and as mad and hurt as you were, his touch still gave you comfort. âThereâs no need to be sad, my Love. Do you really think there could ever be somebody else? None of them could ever possibly compare to you.â âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to get so jealous.â
Despite your best efforts you miserably failed at hiding the hint of shame in your voice. It wasnât that you didnât trust him, just every now and then you did still get scared of losing him. âItâs fine. Itâs sweet in a way. But you have nothing to worry about. There will forever only be one for me, and that is you.â You laid your hand on top of his on your face, leaning into his touch, a content smile on your lips. âI shouldnât have doubted you.â âOh please, people assume much worse about me all the time.â
The moment he finished his sentence, he already regretted what he had said. There was a very simple reason Thor kept introducing him to women: He didnât know about the both of you. Just like nobody else did.
Loki had his reasons to keep your relationship a secret, but they werenât what you thought. You seemed confused, wanted to ask him what he meant, but he interrupted you before you even got a chance and quickly changed the topic. âComeâ, he said, grabbing your hand, âLetâs lie down in the grass for a bit and watch the stars for a while.
He led you to a nearby patch of grass, where you both laid down, you cuddling close to him, as it was slowly getting colder, and he wrapped an arm around you, holding you tight, as you were both gazing up at the stars. It was a quiet night, the sounds from the palace seemed so far away now, as did anything that had happened before. All that mattered now was Loki right beside you, as his fingers were gently combing through your hair, his eyes perfectly reflecting the light of the stars. His pale skin and dark hair were a perfect contrast to each other. You couldnât help but stare at him, he had never been more beautiful than right in this moment.
You kept lying there for quite a while, simply enjoying each otherâs presence and it had been so quiet, it nearly started you when Loki spoke. âI should tell Thor to stop.â âStop what?â âTo stop introducing those women to me. Itâs just a waste of time. Both theirs and mine.â âAnd what are you gonna tell him?â âThe truth.â
Abruptly you sat up, not quite believing what you had just heard. âReally? I thought you wanted so desperately to keep us a secret?â He couldnât help but notice the hint of criticism in your voice and he only blamed himself.
He knew very well the whole secrecy was hard on you and sometimes filled your mind with doubts, which as hard as he tried, he could never quite erase. There was only one solution to this. âMy Love, if I could, I would go and tell everybody in all of the nine realms about you, about us, and how much I love you. But you know, among a lot of them, I donât quite have the best reputation, including most of Asgard. I didnât want you to have it any harder, simply because you were associated with me. But thereâs no use in it if it only makes you suffer for other reasons. So yes, I will tell Thor, and while Iâm at it I might as well tell everybody else.â
You needed a moment. Or two. It wasnât often that you were left speechless but you were truly struggling to find your words right now. âYou⊠youâre serious? I always thoughtâŠâ âThat I wanted to hide you? Never. I know you were thinking that and I know you were hurting because of it. But no, I couldnât be more proud to call you mine.â âLoki, IâŠâ âShh, donât say anything. Just come back here.â He pulled you back down, so you were lying beside him once more.
The night grew colder and the sounds from the palace were slowly dying down as it got later. A yawn forced its way out of your mouth and hadnât it been so cold you would have probably long fallen asleep in Lokiâs arms. He chuckled at your tiredness and you would have probably been mad at him, if it hadnât been so true.
âShould we head back?â He questioned. You simply nodded and stretched your tired limbs, while he had already gotten up, reaching out his hand to help you, which you gladly took. He never let go though, even after you were up and you walked back hand in hand. As you neared the palace you wanted to let go out of habit, but he only tightened his grip.
âNo, Love, not this time. Now letâs see if my brother is still around.â
Waking up, you stretched, not planning to get out of bed anytime soon, it was way too comfortable. Glancing towards the window you saw how foggy and dark it was outside, and instead of the usual bird chirps you heard the patter of rain. Sighing you rested your head back on the pillow, since it didnât seem like you were gonna miss out on anything today anyway. You soon heard a groan next to you and arms wrapped around your waist. The feeling of his body pressed against yours and his breath against your neck made you smile. âStayâ, he mumbled. âI didnât mean to leave.â âGood.â He pulled you a little closer, nestling his face in the crook of your neck, inhaling your scent. Turning around you looked into his sleepy eyes, he didnât seem quite awake yet. A few strands of hair were hanging over his face, pushing them aside gently you couldnât help but admire how handsome he was. You hadnât even realized your hand was still resting on his cheek until his fingers softly grazed the back of your hand, before intertwining them with yours.
âI wanna stay here with you forever.â âWeâre gonna have to get up at some point thoughâ, you reminded him. âShhh, I donât wanna hear that. Just a little bit longer.â He pulled you a little closer once again, placing a kiss on your forehead, before resting his chin on the top of your head. You would have loved to stay in bed here with him all day but nature was against you. âJohnny?â âHmm?â âWe should really get up, Iâm hungry.â He squeezed you tightly one last time before eventually giving in. âSure, you wanna go get lunch somewhere?â âIs it that late already?â You were thinking for a second. âNo, I donât really feel like going out, why donât we just order something?â âSomeoneâs up for a lazy Sunday, huh?â âActually yes, I mean looking at that weather, itâs the perfect day for movies and cuddling on the couch.â âThat sounds great indeed.â
In the afternoon you were soon nestled together on the couch, enjoying a movie. It wasnât long until you felt a weight on your shoulder, Johnnyâs head resting on it. Soon though he grabbed a pillow to put under his head. âYour shoulderâs hard.â âWhatever, at least get that pillow out of my face, I canât see shit.â He had other things in mind though, as he pushed the pillow further in your face. âJohnny!â You had no choice but to grab the pillow that was closest to you and smack him in the face with it. He seemed quite dumbfounded for a second before he fought back. Soon you were both lying on the floor, laughing so hard you could barely fight anymore.
âI won.â Johnny whispered into your ear, as you were lying on the ground, back to floor, he was sitting on top of you, pinning your arms to the ground. âFiiine, then let go of me.â âOnly if you let go of that pillow.â You let go of the pillow, but made sure it was still reachable, so as soon as he let go of your arms you grabbed it again, but he was too fast and took it from you. âNoooo!â âYou deceitful little girl.â A mischievous grin spread over his face and you expected the worst. You screamed for mercy when he started tickling you. âNo! Johnny, stop!â âMake me stop.â You grabbed his shirt, to pull him down towards you and he immediately stopped as you kissed him. Â âNow thatâs one way to stop me.â âYouâre such an idiot.â âCanât deny that.â âBut I love you so damn much.â âI love you too, baby.â He smiled, before kissing you again, slow and gentle, yet passionate and so loving.
Only now you seemed to notice the movie was still playing. âOh no, we missed my favorite scene!â you whined. âI think we missed a little more than that.â You finally got up from the ground and were back on the couch, cuddled up together once more, to continue watching movies.
After a few movies, it was slowly getting dark outside, and it was only a matter of time until Johnnyâs phone vibrated. You only saw that it was a message from Archie and you didnât need to read it to know what it was about. Johnny quickly typed in a message before putting his phone away again. âAre you going out with the guys?â You looked at him, pouting. âNo, not today. Iâm staying here with you.â âReally?â âOf course. Why would I go out with them if I can be here with you?â You wrapped your arms around him, resting your head against his chest. âYouâre the best, you know that?â âWell I try my best, for you.â It was days like these that you couldnât believe how lucky you were to have him.
It was getting pretty late, you couldnât believe you had been watching movies nearly all day and how tired you were because of that. While you were trying to hold back a yawn, Johnny had rested his head against your shoulder long ago and by now you heard soft snores coming from him. As much as you loved watching him sleep your shoulder was slowly starting to hurt. You hated to wake him up, but you had no other choice. It took a while to get him awake, at least enough to get him off the couch. He barely even opened his eyes while he let you drag him towards the bedroom. âYouâre like a zombie whenever I wake you up. A very sleepy zombie.â He only smiled before letting himself fall onto the mattress, pulling you down with him and immediately wrapping his arms around you. âBut instead of brains I live from your love.â âThat is weirdly enough one of the cutest things you ever said.â He pecked your lips, but it was obvious how tired he was and he was already half asleep again. âGoodnight Johnny.â The only answer you get was a sleepy groan and you couldnât help but smile, before you rested your head against his chest and slowly drifted off to sleep too.
You were tired, your joints cracked as you stretched in your office chair and you longingly looked out of the window. Only a little longer, you told yourself. It had gotten pretty late, your last coworkers had left about an hour ago, you were the only one left in the office. Or so you had thought, until you saw a familiar figure standing in the doorway. âStill hard at work?â He wondered. You only nodded without giving him a proper answer, you barely looked at him. He sighed, grabbing a spare chair and sitting down next to you.
Your eyes didnât leave your work for a second, but Middy was making it hard for you to concentrate. He kept rolling around with the office chair, and whenever he stopped he sat way closer to you than it would be comfortable with any coworker. When at some point he even started whistling some melody you lost it. âWhy are you even still here?â You questioned, glaring at him. He only shrugged. âI had work to do.â âYou HATE this job. You never work overtime.â âItâs not that bad.â You raised an eyebrow, not quite convinced about the honesty of his answer. âItâs gotten a lot better since you started working here.â He added, smiling, and winking at you. You simply rolled your eyes, trying to get back to your work, but Middy snatched the papers on your table away from you. âHey!â âDonât you think youâve worked enough for today?â âI have to finish this!â âYou know what they say, âTomorrow is another dayâ.â âButâŠâ You hated to admit it, but you were running out of arguments.
A warm smile spread over his lips. âCome on, you should really go home, itâs late.â âIâd rather be at work than at home.â Those words had left your mouth before you had a chance to think about it, and you could have cursed yourself for that. You hadnât planned on letting anybody know how hard it was for you to come home and have absolutely nobody waiting for you, you didnât mean to admit how lonely you were. âWhyâs that?â âUhm.. no reason.â âCome on now, you canât say that and not tell me why.â âItâs just not really fun to come home to an empty apartment every single day.â âAnd thatâs why you stay at work for so long nearly every day?â âYeah.â âBut youâre always alone here too.â âBut the work at least distracts me.â
He was quiet for a bit, he seemed deep in thought about something. You had just started to get back to work again and his voice startled you a bit when he spoke up again. âHow about I invite you for dinner?â âMiddy, you donât have to pity me.â âI donât. I⊠Iâve actually wanted to do that for a while. I honestly only stayed overtime to be alone with you. And to at least not embarrass myself in front of the whole company in case you say no.â âWait⊠so youâre not just inviting me for dinner as a coworker?â âNo⊠Iâve wanted to ask you out pretty much since the first day you started working here.â
Now that you thought about it, you did remember catching him staring at you a few times when you had started your job, but you had never thought much about it. You did think he was quite attractive and you might have had a bit of a crush on him from the first day on too, but you had tried to ignore it, after all he was your coworker.
âYou know, you donât have to go out with me if you donât want to.â Middy must have misunderstood your silence and you hated to see how disappointed he looked. âNo! No, Iâd love to.â âReally?â Immediately his eyes lit up again. You nodded and couldnât help but smile at his excitement, but you also felt your cheeks burning and you knew you were blushing, even more so when he suddenly hugged you. âLetâs go then!â As soon as he let go of you he grabbed your hand, and laughing you followed him out of the office.

Movienight Gone Wrong (Archie Cruz - Santa Cruz) REQUEST
Movie nights with the guys were fun, but they also were a pain in the ass. You usually were the only girl and they simply loved to annoy you. Only a short while after your arrival you and Taz were already fighting over the popcorn, he was holding it up in the air, and him being the tall, skinny guy he was you had no chance to reach it. âCome on Taz! This isnât funny!â You pouted, grabbing his arm, trying to pull it down so you could reach the bowl. He only laughed though, knowing you didnât stand a chance. Thankfully you soon got help and Middy, wanting popcorn too and not being able to reach it either, joined your side.
âSheâs right Taz, put it down!â Even though Middy usually was with him when it came to annoying you, he couldnât convince him to at least give the bowl to him. Johnny and Archie were sitting on the couch, watching and apparently enjoying the spectacle. They could easily just watch, they had their own bowl of popcorn, but of course they didnât share it with anybody.
Middy, starting to get slightly pissed off suddenly charged at Taz, his plan to grab the bowl while Taz was trying to catch his balance. What he didnât expect though was Taz tripping over the carpet, which sent the bowl flying through the living room, popcorn raining down on the floor. Instead of laughing though everyone was dead silent as the bowl crashed down. As Taz had lost his balance he had fallen towards your direction, knocking you down with him and while he had been lucky and had landed on the carpet, you had hit your head on the table.
While Taz was getting up again, rubbing his arm he had fallen on, they soon noticed you werenât moving. Archie immediately jumped up, rushing to your side, carefully grabbing you and pulling you up into a sitting position, with your back leaning against the couch. âY/N?â He called out, his brows furrowed and worry in his voice. âFuck, Y/N, wake up! Johnny, call a doctor!â Johnny, who had only been staring at you until now, shock written all over his face, immediately grabbed his phone.
When you opened your eyes, you had absolutely no idea what was going on. You had no explanation as to why you were suddenly sitting on the floor, the guys surrounding you, all of them seeming worried. You flinched as you moved, feeling the pain in the back of your head. You wanted to get up, but Archie gently pushed you back down. âYou should stay here for a bit, at least until the doctor is here and got you checked.â âDoctor? What are you talking about, what happened?â âWhat do you remember?â âI remember trying to get the popcorn from Taz, Middy was helping me and tried to push him. Thatâs it pretty much.â âYou donât remember Taz falling on you and you hitting your head on the table?â âNo⊠but that at least explains my headache. But why are you all so worried?â âYou were completely gone for at least five minutes, we couldnât wake you up anymore.â âOh shit..â Middy suddenly joined your conversation. âYou have no idea how sorry I am, it was a dumb idea to knock Taz over like that.â âItâs okay, thereâs no way you could have known this would happen.â
Again you tried to get up but once more Archie didnât let you. âArchie please, Iâm fine.â âNo, youâre staying down. Iâm not risking anything.â You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms, but you didnât protest any longer. You didnât want to make him worry even more, but you had to admit it did feel nice, knowing how much he cared about you. But you tried to get that thought off your mind. Of course he cared, he was your friend after all. Thatâs it, thatâs all he is, all heâs ever gonna be.
It wasnât much longer until the doctor arrived, checking your vital signs and reflexes, to be honest you didnât quite know what he was doing. It was obvious how everybody in the room relaxed when he said you were fine, only telling you to take it easy for a few days and get as much rest as possible.
With that the movie night was kinda over for you. Even without the doctorâs advice, since the pain had only gotten worse since you woke up you only wanted to go to bed. You cursed, remembering you walked here but since it wasnât far you decided not to say anything. But you hadnât even gotten out the door when Archie caught up to you, his car keys jingling in his hand. âYou walked here, right?â He asked you, and it was hard not to notice how worried he still was. You only nodded in response. âCome on then, Iâll drive you home.â âArchie, Iâll be fine, itâs okay.â âNo, you were told to take it easy and get rest, remember? Iâm driving you home.â You gave in, to be honest you were thankful, you really didnât want to walk all the way home.
He dropped you off at your place, after you had assured him about a million times that you were gonna be fine and that you only wanted to go to bed anyway. And yet you had barely taken off your shoes and walked into the kitchen to get yourself a glass of water, when the doorbell rang. Opening the door of course it was Archie who was standing in front of you. âYou know what? I changed my mind, Iâm not leaving you alone.â âArchie, I told you Iâll be fine.â âI know, but Iâm not gonna be able to sleep for just a minute tonight if I donât KNOW youâre fine.â âAre you really that worried?â âOf course I am! Seeing you lying on the floor, not moving a muscle, I donât remember the last time I was so scared. It might have only been five minutes, but it felt like hours.â He ran a hand through his hair, clearly upset. As much as you hated seeing him so worried, it warmed your heart knowing how he reacted to you getting hurt.
âAnd also I kind of feel responsible for this too.â âWhat? Why? You didnât do anything.â âBut if I would have shared with you, instead of being such an ass none of this would have happened.â You looked into his eyes, not quite being able to believe what he had just said. âArchie, thatâs ridiculous. Itâs nobodyâs fault. Nobody could have known this would happen. It was bad luck.â âI know itâs justâŠâ He hesitated for a moment, looking on the ground, carefully thinking about which words to choose. âI couldnât forgive myself if something would have happened to you okay?â âBut nothing happened, Iâm fine okay? You heard the doctor, Iâm fine.  And now Iâm going to sleep, you have fun sleeping on the couch.â
You tried to reassure him once more that you were okay, but your body betrayed you and you had to hold onto the wall for a moment when you tried walking to your bedroom. Immediately Archie was by your side, his arms around you, supporting you. âYouâre fine, huh?â âWell he said I might be a bit dizzy. Itâs getting better already.â Archie didnât listen though and simply picked you up, carrying you to your bedroom. âOkay donât you think youâre overacting a bit now?â âNo, not taking any risks.â You rolled your eyes, but smiled and leaned your head against his chest.
You could have cursed yourself for how much you enjoyed being carried by him. He was only worried, you knew this was a onetime thing only. And yet you couldnât help but feel way too comfortable in his arms. You had longed for your bed, but now you could have cried when he gently placed you on the mattress and let go of you. Before he could walk away though you grabbed his arm. âArchie wait⊠can you stay, please?â âI already told you Iâm staying.â He looked down at you, slightly confused. âNo, I mean⊠here.â It took him a moment until he realized what exactly you meant with that and his expression softened. âSure.â He took off his shirt and laid down next to you. Thankfully you had chosen comfortable clothes for your movie night, you were too tired and didnât want to bother with changing now.
It wasnât long until Archie wrapped his arms around you, gently running his fingers down your back. His touch was so soothing and you could have immediately fallen asleep, but as tired as you were, you wanted to enjoy this moment a little longer. Just before you could fall asleep you heard Archieâs voice again. âYou know, Iâve wanted to talk to you. A few hours ago I really didnât think Iâd do this today, but now seems like the perfect time.â âWhat do you mean?â You were completely awake again, staring into his eyes, a questioning look on your face.
All of a sudden he seemed incredibly nervous, scratching the back of his head, not daring to look into your eyes. âWell I⊠I donât really know how to say thisâŠI just really, really like you a lot okay? And I sound like a twelve year old with his first crush, Iâm sorry.â He shook his head, letting out a short laugh, still trying not to meet your gaze. Until you put your hand on his cheek, smiling at him. âArchie, IâŠâ You were trying to think of something to say, but you never got to finish your sentence. Within a heartbeat Archieâs lips were on yours, and you had forgotten every single word you wanted to say anyway. He pulled you closer and you had never realized just how desperate you were for his touch, how much you longed for him.  He broke the kiss way too soon and you already missed the feeling of his lips.
âNow wasnât this evening just one hell of a ride?â You whispered. âWell considering you were knocked out on the floor a few hours ago this is definitely not how I expected it to end. Iâm not complaining though.â âNeither am I.â You couldnât help but smile. You had had a crush on him for such a long time, but you had tried to push it away, knowing he could have any girl he wanted. And now here he was, being all shy about admitting his feelings for you.
Request: You walk home after a Santa Cruz concert, and Taz follows you, because he had seen some guy watch you and follow you from the venue and he wanted to make sure youâre fine, so he walks you home.
You didnât want to believe it was over already. You had waited for ages to finally see you favorite band live, and it was even better than you could have ever expected. Sadly though they were already playing their last song and you wanted to cry, not willing to accept that thatâs it. When they suddenly announced that theyâd come out after the show, to meet their fans you could barely believe what you had heard and you screamed, not being able to contain your joy.
After about twenty minutes you finally saw them and even though you couldnât wait to meet them you were just standing there with all the other fans, patiently waiting for your turn, too shy to do anything about the people pushing their way to the front instead of standing in line. Luckily though Taz noticed you standing there, as you were slowly growing impatient, biting your lip because you didnât want to be unfriendly and interrupt them talking to other people.
He turned towards you, smiling at you asking how you were doing and if you had enjoyed the show. You could only tell him how great it was and how it had surpassed your expectations by far, and you had already expected them to be great. You talked to him and of course also the rest of the band for a bit, but soon everyone had to leave. Sad you had to leave and yet so happy you had met them, you walked out of the door, not noticing the man following in some distance, hiding in the shadows.
It wasnât long though that you heard a noise behind you. Turning around you couldnât see anybody, but still the feeling of being watched stayed. You started walking faster, just how much you hated walking home alone at night. When you heard another noise you turned around. âWhoâs there?â You shouted through the night, of course not getting an answer. Just when you wanted to turn back around and continue walking you felt a hand on your shoulder. You jumped and screamed, pushing the hand away, facing the man suddenly standing there.
âOh shit, sorry, I didnât mean to scare you.â He apologized. Standing in front of you was nobody else than Tazzy Cruz. âI.. uh.. itâs okay. But can I ask you what youâre doing here?â âThere was this weird guy watching you when we talked, and I saw him follow you when you left, I wanted to make sure youâre okay.â So it hadnât just been a bad feeling. You smiled at him. âWell, thanks. And I thought I had imagined hearing something.â âSo he actually kept following you⊠I wasnât sure after I didnât see him anymore. Now come on, Iâll walk you home.â âWhat? You.. you donât have to do that.â âAnd risk that heâs still around? No way. Iâm not letting that guy harm you.â âThanks.â You smiled, looking to the ground. Of course you had wanted him to come with you. After knowing there actually had been somebody following you, you were incredibly scared.
With Taz by your side though you felt like you had nothing to fear. You hadnât walked far and you were already laughing again, like there was no care in the world, after he had been telling you some stories about the crazy shit that was happening when they were on tour. âYou know, you have a really beautiful laugh.â He mentioned and you couldnât help but blush. âThanks.â You whispered and you saw the smile on his lips out of the corner of your eyes.
Way too soon you both stood in front of your door. âWell, this is my place. Thanks again for walking me home.â. âNo problem. I couldnât let anything happen to you. But at least that guy gave me a good excuse to walk you home.â You awkwardly stood at your doorstep, looking up at him. âI guess this is goodbye then?â You said after a few seconds of silence. He only nodded, scratching the back of his head. âYeah, I guess so.â Before you could open your door and walk inside though he suddenly grabbed your wrist, stopping you.Â
You looked at him expectant and before you could say anything he pulled you closer, gently placing a soft kiss on your forehead, before leaning his head against yours, wrapping an arm around your waist and softly stroking your hair with his other hand. âBefore I leave though⊠Iâm not always gonna be here, so promise me youâll be careful, okay?â âSure.â You whispered and he gently held you for a few more seconds before he let go, giving you his sweetest smile before he eventually left. You stood in your doorway, watching him leave, trying to process what had just happened. Walking inside and closing the door behind you, you had to laugh. This wasnât how you had expected this night to end, but you definitely werenât gonna complain.

âYou turned, and went hunting. You have no control over your animal form, thatâs why you donât remember it. The deer was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.â It was true, he had been watching her ever since that day. He had run into her on her walk and felt her power. Usually he wouldnât have thought too much about it, he did run into others among the humans every now and then, if it hadnât been for the rage he also felt within her. A sure sign that she was about to turn against her will. He had followed her, keeping his distance, so to not raise any suspicions, but he had been too cautious and stayed too far behind it seemed, because he lost her. When he found her again the deer was already dead and she ran before he could stop her.
Since that day he spent his time lingering near her, not letting her out of his sight. On a few occasions he was close to stepping in but she had always managed to calm down in time thankfully. How would he have been able to explain appearing at her office? That was until last night, when the man threatened her friend. He had felt her anger and when he heard her growl he thought he was too late and she was going to rip the man apart. Luckily enough she had been so caught off guard by him that she forgot about her anger for a moment, which was enough for him to get the situation under control.
Fighting the human had been easy enough, he barely received a few scratches and that was only because he had gotten distracted by Riana and her friend leaving. Cursing he knocked the man out and followed them. He couldnât let her get away this time, it was getting too dangerous and it was only a matter of time until she lost control again. When he stepped out of the bar he saw her waiting for a Taxi, but her friend was still with her. Sure, he could have said he wanted to check on them, wanted to make sure they got home safe, but how was he supposed to catch her alone? He disappeared into the alley where he had parked his motorbike. He had to get to her apartment before her at any cost.
Just barely did he manage to do so and now she was standing in front of him. Finally she had stopped eyeing the knife on the counter. Not that she could have actually harmed him, at least not as a human, but he wasnât quite fond of being threatened. Now she was quiet, hadnât said a word since he had told her what she was and his eyes were scanning her for any sign of a reaction. She seemed in shock, he couldnât blame her. After all she had grown up among humans, probably had never even heard of shapeshifters existing until just now.
âI know this is a bit muchâ, he tried to calm her down. âA bit much?â it seemed as if she had finally found her voice again, âa bit much? This is absolutely crazy. Are you on drugs? Iâm gonna call the police now.â She moved to grab her phone from her purse, not letting him out of her sight, and yet he was much too fast for her to react when he stepped closer and grabbed her arm that was reaching for the bag. A quick glance to the side told her she had lost now, he had placed himself between her and her knife. But seeing how fast he had reacted and stopped her she wasnât sure she would have had a chance in the first place, even with the knife. âWho the hell are you?â He was way too close for her liking now, he was towering over her and she hated having to look up to a man. His dark eyes were searching her face, she wasnât sure what he was looking for. Maybe fear? She wasnât going to give him that kind of pleasure, not after the things that had been happening to her lately.
âMy name is Samei. As you might have figured out by now, Iâm a shapeshifter too. So will you listen to me now?â
She gave him a sceptic look. âProve itâ. He looked at her and scoffed. âIâm pretty sure youâd prefer not having a grown predator in your home.â âSo, what then? Iâm supposed to believe you, just like that?â âListen, Iâm not the most patient to begin with and your attitude isnât helping. I know this is confusing and it might sound crazy to youâ, he had let go of her arm when he started talking and she had quickly taken a few steps back, getting as much distance between them as possible. If she couldnât get to her knife, she at least wanted the option to escape. He watched her closely. As much as she tried to hide her fear, while it might have worked on humans, it was obvious to him. Her eyes were darting across the room, searching for the safest way to get away from him, every now and then stopping at the knife that seemed hopelessly far away now. Running a hand through his dark, messy hair he sighed, forcing himself to sound as calm as possible. âAnd I know youâre scared. But I really donât mean to hurt you. You need someone to teach you how to control this. I can help you, but youâll need to at least try and trust me.â âBut⊠I donât even know you. How am I supposed to trust the stranger who broke into my home?â âThat really wasnât my best idea, was it? I donât expect you to trust me right away, or come with me without a question. Hell, you being so naĂŻve would probably be more annoying than putting up such a fight. But the longer you wait, the more dangerous itâll become, for both you, and those around you.â With that last warning, he turned to leave.
Riana was left alone the process the information she had just received. A shapeshifter? What was that supposed to mean? She looked at her hands, before her inner eye still seeing the blood from the deer. Weirdly enough, she had to admit, it made sense. After collecting her thoughts, she checked the door, and every window in the apartment. Everything was closed and undamaged. Just how had he gotten in here? Never before had she felt so unsafe in her own home.
For the rest of the weekend she refused to leave her apartment, too scared of what might happen if she did, but she couldnât hide forever. Duty called. So Monday morning she was sitting in her office again, though her mind was completely elsewhere. She had trouble concentrating and getting anything done. Somehow she managed to make the day go by, she was just ready to go home, when her coworker stopped by her desk. âLeaving already?â âUh, yeah. I always leave around this time?â âOh, I just thought since weâd been so busy youâd stay a little longer too, like most of the others. You know, we work together when thereâs trouble.â Sure, like we worked together when you stabbed me in the back last week. She bit her tongue, stopping herself from speaking her mind. Always easily irritated by the woman her current situation wasnât helping. âYou know what, Karen? Iâm actually not feeling too well, I think I might still be a little sick from last week. I should leave now.â She grabbed her bag, and was already on her way out the door, thinking sheâd seen the last of her coworker, at least for today, but luck wasnât on her side. âOh thatâs just excuses now, because you donât want to help us. You could just say you donât have time.â Riana was so close to snapping and she could feel she was getting dangerously close to her anger getting the best of her. âWhatâs it to you? Just leave me alone!â She practically growled. She had to get out of here. Fast. Thankfully the other woman seemed to be speechless for once and before she could recover and say anything else Riana was already out the door.
It had really been about time she got out of the office. Sprinting down the street she could already feel herself slipping, she had to get out of the city as fast as possible. Barely reaching the forest in time, she fell on her knees and let out a pained scream that quickly turned into a vicious growl. A moment later, she was gone, only her purse left behind. She didnât hear the motorbike behind her, or the man cursing as he followed her into the woods.
Samei cursed at he stopped his motorbike and watched the animal disappear between the trees. They were nowhere near a path, therefore he couldnât follow her on his bike. He had kept watching her after the day he had appeared in her home, knowing it was only a matter of time until she turned again. This wasnât how he had planned it though. He had meant to be by her side when it happened, to make sure she couldnât be of any harm to anybody and that she wasnât seen. But he hadnât gotten to her in time, and now she was on the run. People tended to take walks often in the forest near the city, and she had absolutely no control over her animal form, so he had to act fast. The risk was too great. Throwing his leather jacket over the seat of his bike he took off after her. Before he disappeared between the trees, the man was already gone, a large predator taking his place. As such, it was easy to follow her trail.
He found her not much later in the bushes surrounding a small clearing, where some children were playing. They were unaware of the danger they were in, actually moving closer to the bushes while chasing each other, their innocent laughter echoing through the forest. Just as she was about to jump at them, he reached her, launching his own body towards her and knocking her over. Her first instinct was to attack him, he had been hoping for her to redirect her aggression towards him, and he took off once more, luring her away from the children. Once they had gotten far enough he stopped in his tracks, turning to face her. She jumped at him and though she put all her anger into her attack she didnât stand a chance. She was young and clumsy, blindly letting her rage control her actions, while he was an experienced fighter. It wasnât long until she was on the ground and once the animal within her realized it had lost she turned back into her human form.
He had gotten off her when he realized she was turning back, trying not to scare her too much, but she still let out a scream when she turned around and saw the large black cat in front of her. Changing back within seconds his hand was on her mouth, stopping her from screaming again. Her gaze wandered down, seeming like she wanted to make sure it wasnât still a claw. âRelax. Itâs only me. Iâm going to let you go now, but you have to promise me not to scream again.â She nodded weakly, he wasnât sure if it was from exhaustion or if she was just scared. Probably a bit of both. He could have cursed himself, he really didnât mean to scare her, but he had had to stop her somehow. Slowly he removed his hand, carefully watching her reaction, but she did seem calm enough. For a while, she didnât say a word. Confusion was written on her face and she most likely simply didnât know where to start.
âWhat⊠what just happened?â âYou turned again, after you left your office. Something at work must have irritated you. I followed you, to make sure nobody would get hurt.â âAnd was it necessary? You had to stop me, didnât you?â The fear in her voice was obvious, but she wasnât scared of him, but rather of what she could have done. âDonât do this yourselfâ âDid I harm anybody? Tell me!â âNo, I got to you in time. Nothing happened.â âBut if you hadnât been hereâŠâ He nodded. She was silent again but you could see her thoughts were going a million miles an hour. Something deep inside of him felt bad for her. He could have just told her that nothing had happened. But then again, maybe this made her realize that she did need help to learn to control her power.
âCome on, Iâll take you home. We can talk there.â Her only reaction was a nod. After she had put up such a fight the first time they spoke, he couldnât believe how quiet she was now. But after all she had probably just feared for her life when she saw him. That he wasnât going to turn into a wild beast in the middle of her apartment had only been an excuse, he simply hadnât wanted to scare her. Knowing somebody was a shapeshifter and having somebody actually turn into an animal in front of you were two completely different things after all.
He grabbed her arm, to pull her up, when she flinched. At first he thought he had simply grabbed her a bit too tight, until he saw the blood on her arm, and the claw marks. They werenât deep and probably didnât hurt too much, yet he couldnât help but feel a pang of guilt. âCome onâ, he spoke once more, this time softer, âletâs go. Then Iâll take care of your wound too.â
By the time they had gotten out of the forest it was already dark. Riana had underestimated just how far in the woods they had been. When she saw his bike she stopped in her tracks. âYou donât expect me to get on that, do you?â âWhat, you want to walk?â He gave her a questioning look, while handing her the purse she had lost when she had turned. But no, she really didnât want to walk, so reluctantly she got on the bike. âHold on tight, Iâll drive carefully.â
He didnât. She had thought she had been scared when she saw him before, but now she actually feared for her life. It felt like forever until they reached the building her apartment was in and she felt like kissing the ground when they finally did.
As she unlocked her door she couldnât help but still wonder how the hell he had gotten in the last time. She grabbed some bandages from the bathroom to patch up her arm, but before she could get started they were taken from her. âLet me do this.â âYou better. Itâs your fault after all.â He scoffed. âItâs just a few scratches, you could have ended up much worse.â Watching him as he bandaged her arm she couldnât help but notice he was surprisingly gentle and seemed to know what he was doing quite well. They sat like this for a while, until she couldnât bare the silence anymore.
âSo, you spoke the truth. You really are a shapeshifter.â âYes, what gave it away? Was it the panther at your throat?â âOh youâre a real jester, arenât you?â Had she just closed her eyes for a split second, she would have missed the slight twitch in the corner of his mouth. This was the biggest reaction she had gotten out of him so far. âYou better get used to it. You need me.â Just how was she supposed to deal with this guy? Even if he was her only chance to learn how to control her shapeshifting abilities, he was absolutely unbearable and apparently quite arrogant too.
âAlright, all done.â She looked at the bandage on her arm, it was perfect, no doctor could have done it any better. âDo you do this a lot?â âWhat do you mean?â âTreat wounds. It looks like you have experience.â âIâve been in a fight or two, you got to know how to take care of your injuries.â He simply shrugged it off, but Riana couldnât deny the feeling that he was hiding something.
âSo what now?â She wondered. âWhat now? Now you have to tell me if youâre still willing to risk your and other peopleâs life, or if you trust me enough to come with me and let me teach you.â She looked at her feet, she had never been so unsure of something in her life. But did she really have a choice? He hadnât lied to her about what he was, so surely he could teach her how to keep her other side in check too, right? No way in hell could she risk losing control again. What if the next time he wasnât near to stop her?
âFine. Iâm coming with you. Just give me a minute to grab some things.â
