I just thought of something! So we know that when TLT takes place most of Sallyās money is going to Percyās school and the apartment. Thereās likely not much income help from Gabe even though he runs what we can assume to be a successful enough business since heās always home playing poker. This means Sally likely didnāt buy the cabin in Montauk. My theory is that she inherited it. When her parents died and she was the sole inheritor but her uncle was sort of like the one who made sure she didnāt spend all the money before she could get it legally. Then he got sick and died. She had already dropped out of school which means she had to be at least 16. I think she inherited the cabin. If she grew up by the beach it would always be special to her and sheād want to spend time there which leads to her meeting Poseidon and getting pregnant with Percy. Obviously sheād want to raise her son by the beach and ocean if it was so important to her growing up.
The show could prove me completely wrong but this is my theory for now
Your theory is interesting for sure! I always thought they just rented the cabin whenever they spend time there, but that assumption is based on the few times I staid in a cabin for a weekend. I don't think it's ever stated whether she owns the cabin or not, and in all if she did why would she not life there with Percy and Gabe? (Ignoring the fact she wouldn't want Gabe there for obvious reasons) Saves a lot of rent
I do think the uncle died in her senior year of highschool though, so she probably was 17/18 at that point (if I understand USA schools correctly :) )
I would love to here more theories on here! It's always fun and I'm very excited for the TV show!!
