I loaded into a superflat world, looking for a place to practice building, when I spawned in I was inside an abandoned city, but what I wanted to do in this world needed a place free of structures, so I marked down my spawn and left without exploring. But when I left I noticed more cities, or perhaps the same one but just very big, but I didn’t dwell on it, what I wanted was a flat area. But I couldn’t find one, there were cities as far as render distance would allow. I even found a village next to a small city, it intrigued me so I marked it down to find later and kept looking. But then I found something much more intriguing than the last.
A village built under a city, or perhaps, was it the other way around? If it was the city first wouldn’t the village be less buried and look more blended in? It looks like the city was built after the village, judging by how the village looks less like it experienced a cave-in and more like an intentional build choice(there was still a tree from the village poking out in the road and a village house dug into a city building so if they were trying to hide something they didn’t do a good job). Even the houses had rock and other city material inside of them so I feel like there was some malicious intent coming to play here while building the city. I feel like the city started somewhere else and when expanding they found a village, and when the residents refused to move the city decided to build over it without a second thought. What I can’t explain is why the city ends right at the village though.I am wondering just how long ago this happened as I found two villagers in some houses i dug out, but when I returned later only one remained, but I didn’t wanna think about that too much. Luckily I had the means to bring a new villager in, and hopefully both will stay alive.
I plan to come back to this village/city to explore it more and see if any other villages have been built underneath, or if it’s just the one. Before I leave I’m going to get rid of any spawners I see in the area so the place will be more safe, and keep the village well lit as it’s covered in rock. I think I’ll name the city and village together Escove.
