"Has anyone ever loved you?"
The alien paused at the scathing insult, knowing full well the connotation. What they had meant. Her hand goes to the ring dangling from the chain around her neck, tighter than it used to be.
She remembers pressing kisses over mandibles, stars long past adrift in the eyes of a man far older then he seemed and the hearty laughter of a brightly coloured bandit.
"I have." With those two words heavy with grief she trudged into the university which felt more of a prison even with it’s gilded finery.
And for a moment Magolor felt far older than she was.
