im aroace myself and it gets tiring seeing fun and interesting character dynamics (in art or writing) then realizing/ it being revealed that its a ship and is meant to be romantic :( and if i like it a lot i just pretend its not

but seeing explicit aroace representation/ headcanons makes me so happy. i always make characters arospec and/or acespec, but it never comes up much when i make stories

and seeing all the physical contact and closeness being explicitly non romantic and being such a casual common thing brings me so much joy. also purposefully flustering your friends is so real and relatable

also qpr sonic and shadow?????????? incredible. genius. 10/10. their dynamic is SO interesting to me and having it be aroace on both sides just makes it a million times better

i guess it's just nice to see other people like you and to enjoy relationships without worrying if there's some unsaid romance behind it

yeah there's so much i could say, i just want to let you know that the aroace sonic stuff is really really cool and awesome and i love it so so much

from your cute little sketches to your fully rendered pieces, I'm always amazed by what you do. especially your dragons!! they're so fluid and dynamic and I looooveee them <33

the way you write tails and sonic (well, everyone really) is so so good. i love the way you write them experiencing and dealing with conflicts between them. because as much as they love each other, things arent perfect (such says the name of the series). and you can tell that they really do love each other so so much even through everything

also i love the backstories for tails and sonic and how they meet. i dont even know how to describe it but they just feel so right. as well as the story surrounding amys family!! "can't cloud rose colored glass" is just. man </3. the way you write the characters dealing with being heroes in such an awful disaster and the grief they deal with all while still being just kids

arc 1 is probably my favorite, which is also what i found and read first. all the dealing with cps and the legal stuff, and sonic not explaining things to tails to keep him from overthinking and worrying, only leading to miscommunication (or rather, none) and misunderstanding, and then tails running away. and the talk tails has with big and froggy!!! !!!!!!!! i just really love it a lot its so incredibly Feelings

my favorite singular fic is, i'd say, "sharing is caring but we never learned how". tails not quite understanding what he's feeling and why and not doing anything to actually deal with it. they way he tries to get sonic to hurt in the same way he's hurting instead of talking to him. then the conversation with knuckles finally getting him to realize and confront whats been going on!! but then theres still hesitation about talking to sonic about it

and i love how through tails' perspective it does feel like sonic just isn't noticing whats going on with tails. then they talk and sonic realizes whats been going on and explains why he's been "ignorning" how tails feels. but then in the end they're okay!!!!

things are messy and complicated and they're still getting used to things, but they're still there for each other no matter what. your honor they are the brothers ever of all time <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

ive realized while writing this that i dont really like miscommunication tropes because it can so easily be done wrong and be just frustrating. but the way your write it feels real, natural. like they're just kids trying to deal with the complicated feelings and world around them. they're just doing the best they can

anyway yeah, i just like this series and your writing a lot and its brought me time to relax and enjoy while i deal with a bit of an art block and just wanna let you know! its hard to put into words but i figure any is better than none :]

I'm so happy you like the way I write the characters <333 I have a lot of fun with everyone and Sonic and Tails's bond in particular has always been so important to me, so I always hope readers can feel that come through.

I was actually really nervous committing to backstories for them both! It's why I saved it for after the first main fics of the Picket Fence series, just in case I couldn't pull it off ^^;; Really glad you liked them! And Amy's, too! I was even more scared about posting hers just because of how tragic hers in particular is, but it felt important to have that background for the way I interpret her character, and to contrast how differently her loss affects her from Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

Arc 1 is still probably my favorite, too! I'm still really happy with how those first three fics turned out <3 Glad to hear they hold up even with all the other fics that followed it!

And "Sharing is Caring" is also one I go back to a lot <3 I was surprised how much people seemed to like that one though! Especially with how much of an introspective piece it is. I tried to balance the action with Tails's inner thoughts as best as I could, hoping his conversations with Amy, Knuckles, and Sonic (and Charmy and Cream!) really had their time to stand out and shine <3

It's so funny, I really don't like the miscommunication trope either xD I'm really shocked at how often I've written it because it's definitely one of my least favorite plot devices. I think it's because I never set out to write miscommunication as the main conflict, it just ends up being a side effect of a bigger conflict. It also works with characters who know each other so well, they don't always need to say what they mean for the other to understand/trust them. While that's a really positive thing about Sonic and Tails's bond, it also has the potential to be overestimated or for them to rely too much on not having to say anything. It's not so much misunderstanding each other, it's that they expect the other to just know. 90% of the time it works out, but the 10% where it doesn't lets me push them out of their comfort zones just a bit and see where it takes them.
