I loved this book and I’ve been drawing its characters a lot; they’re all amazing and fun.

So the thing is I have a pet peeve about book characters who make proclamations of love and then seem to love people a medium amount. Okay shake the earth to its foundations! Haunt me then! Or else!
I’m making you some narrative promises. Believe me.
One underrated thing about Key is that he fell for a woman going around to anyone who would listen and calling herself a treacherous evil bitch who is not to be trusted. And then when she seemingly betrayed him he just sort of put his hands up like:
Key: Well. I guess you did tell me. Who needs trust in a marriage anyway. Let’s get engaged.
And when Rae responds like: 😀😀🙂↔️ sure. Let’s totally do that. On another note i do have to leave this room right now. No promises I’ll see you in the morning.
Key is just like: yeah that’s about the level of sincerity I expected. Love you, dearest 🫶 see you later.
Do ya’ll think that while Rae and Key were having that whole moment where they were writing their names in the sky, and he specifically was hiding how well he could actually read and was probs fuming about another lie, there was some random person elsewhere who saw the lightning and went
