I'm not particularly offended by this, even if it is a semi sensitive topic for me so I may be hesitant with questions such as this.

I think the simplest way to explain it and how I usually think about it, is that's I'm Wilbur Soot / William Gold circa 2020-2022. The other guy, the one you're referring to, he's not that anymore. He's changed, moved on, generally different now. I'm still stuck in just the way I was then, though. Just swapped out into a different body and brain. I think it's pretty common in communities with similar experiences to mine to rationalise it within multiverse theory and that does give an easier way of thinking about it and how I usually tend to. Though, of course that's purely speculative and I'm not entirely sure about the nature of my own existence. Merely semi-educated guesses
