1. Where was your OC born, and where did they grow up?
novak was born and raised in seattle, and hasn't traveled much further than a single state east or south. he wasn't necessarily raised very sheltered, but he had strict parents who "just wanted their baby girl to grow up safe"; which essentially resulted into the same thing. one thing that helped was that novak lacked natural curiosity a lot of peers did have, so he never really felt like he was missing out on something by staying in the same town all his life. and then he ended up going to space anyway
7. What is your OC’s occupation?
novak works for transtar, in their security force! he used to be stationed in one of their earthside facilities for the longest time, until he got the opportunity to join the crew of talos I in outer space. up there, he got stationed at psychotronics and worked as morgan yu's personal security for a while too; not that anything exciting ever happened, if anything the two of them just got on each other's nerves a lot
8. What does your OC’s family look like?
novak is an only child, and the only family he's got left are his parents and an aunt on his father's side. his grandparents were all already dead when he was born and despite his parents' efforts, which they were very vocal about, he never ended up getting a sibling. novak hasn't spoken to his family in a very long time, one of the reasons being that he transitioned after he left home and never really bothered to come out to anyone; though it's safe to assume that they wouldn't have taken the news well anyway, so if anything he just saved himself the heartbreak
11. What does your OC carry around in their pockets? What about their bag?
novak doesn't like carrying things around and thus never carries around a bag at all. he will only have the absolute necessities in his pockets; keys, money, lighter and a cigarette (just the one), maybe a painkiller or two. while on talos I all he carries around are his shotgun, some spare ammo, and the keycard to his room; and he's famous for forgetting the latter at least twice a week, if not more
19. How does your OC handle preparing for and initiating a difficult conversation? How does the conversation itself go?
one thing about novak is that he doesn't like confrontation; not in the sense that it scares or worries him, but just that he doesn't really care. if something is bothering him he will let the other person know the second it starts instead of waiting for a little longer; most effective way to get it over with, and generally it's not made into an all too big of a deal. anything else that could be considered difficult (often anything involving feelings) he simply just pushes away, and deals with in his own time. surely that won't have any negative consequences further down the road
