Research Project Topic
For my research project, I am interested in researching about the field of radiology. Since I am focusing on mammograms and breast cancer for my rhetorical analysis project, I would like to focus on the dangers and history of radiation for my research project. I am interested in all these ideas about radiology because I plan to become a radiation technologist after college. My goal is to take and interpret mammograms, MRI’s, and/or CT’s. I am interested in focusing on radiation for my research project because many of us know about the dangers of radiation, but I would also like to focus on how radiologic technologists take images without hurting a patient, the steps of pre and post imaging, and the history behind radiation. I am excited to get a deep, thorough understanding of the field and share of how great of an impact radiation has in the medical field. Almost every time you go to the dentist, they take x-rays of your mouth. Women over the age of forty are recommended to get mammograms every year. How many accidents did you have as a kid where you had to see if your arm was broken through an x-ray? Radiation education is so important, and it goes beyond the chemistry lab. Agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA, also help people understand the dangers of radiation and give tips for our safety. The next time you get an x-ray or other radiograph, think of all the history and research it took to get where it is today. The medical field is so diverse and rich in background and history, so it is crucial that we continue to educate ourselves!
