Hi Aunt Jilli! As spring seems to have bypassed my region, do you have any style tips for summery goth headwear to shield against the Hate Orb’s wrath?
My go-to is a giant black sun hat. Decorate it with massive amounts of tulle, lace, feathers, or silk flowers (or all of those!), or leave it plain for a Lydia Deetz sort of look. You want to find a sun hat that is made from straw or paper straw, because those won’t make your head overheat. Sure, those organza or chiffon wide brimmed hats look super fancy, but they don’t breathe at ALL, and just trap heat (and sweat) against your scalp.
Another headwear suggestion is to toss lightweight shawls or scarves in the freezer, then drape one around your head before you go out. It won’t give you shade, but it will help keep you cool.
