attempting a life on the up and up for the time being actually wasn’t too bad. bartending was an invigorating experience for aglaia, who found enjoyment in interacting with all sorts of people. networking, she called it. each person was an opportunity to aggie, someone she could get something out of. though she would frequent one bar in particular to work at, freelancing was something she’d dipped her toes into. it kept things fresh. despite finding some pleasure in her work, it was still work. so, when the end of her shift came, aglaia breathed a sigh of relief.
i need a drink, she thought to herself. the night was still fairly young and the restaurant was still crowded with a variety of patrons. not yet closed but somewhat nearing that time, aglaia figured having an after shift drink or two couldn’t hurt. not wanting to settle in and drink alone, aglaia began to seek out a familiar face. the owner was a fascinating character, someone aggie desired to learn more about. wandering the restaurant, she stopped in her tracks when she encountered their presence. leaning against the nearest stable object, aglaia crossed her arms and directed an offer toward them, “ hey, mattie. you ready for a drink ? ”
