āIn psychology, we were asked what we would think if 6 cops were to walk into the cafeteria. I said, āgonna get arrested.ā Someone said something else. [The teacher] said that she was surprised no one said the number one reason for that many cops in a school. Every single one of us said āschool shooting.ā One kid said, āsomeone has a gun.ā School shooting wasnāt the answer. The look on her face threw me off. She looked horrified. Our first thought, as a whole, was,Ā āschool shooting.ā We were monotone about it too. The reality of someone coming in with a gun and killing us is ever present, and weāve become desensitized.
