[The teacher] said that she was surprised no one said the number one reason for that many cops in a school. Every single one of us said ‘school shooting.’ One kid said, ‘someone has a gun.’ School shooting wasn’t the answer. The look on her face threw me off. She looked horrified. Our first thought, as a whole, was, ‘school shooting.’ We were monotone about it too. The reality of someone coming in with a gun and killing us is ever present, and we’ve become desensitized. The answer was drugs. Drugs didn’t come to anyone’s mind. We don’t care about drugs. We just don’t want to die. The answer was drugs.”
