Before it all fell apart for him, Wonshik met someone who values his image and his position in the class like him. It may sound stupid but they started their friendship through silly little doodles during class. Noticing how he draws well, Wonshik draws something and passes it towards his direction before he continues to act interested and taking noted but his hand is way too busy making some cartoon of sorts. Lee Hanbyeol has been known as part of a clique which turns out to be the one that Yoori is involved with.

 This made Wonshik want to get to know Hanbyeol even more, to be able to know more about his beloved Yoori. Other than that, he’s into politics. He’s always a strong candidate on becoming the class president. Proving himself worthy of the title over and over again. It wasn’t till after the scandal broke out that he noticed Hanbyeol reach out to him. 

He’s just another guy with perfect image, perfect everything. He has a great set of friends and a girlfriend who never leaves his side (but everyone says that hanbyeol is just friends with yoon bora). Wonshik felt jealous, he knows he could’ve had the same life as Lee Hanbyeol. A perfect set of friends, Song Yoori by his side and proud family. He tried to blend into the background, no longer the smiling face that girls go gaga for or the guy who throws great parties. He pulls the hood of his jacket as she sits at the very back, arms crosses on top of his desk. Students avoid him. No wonder why. He’s considered as a sex offender. Though none of friends defended him even though they know the whole truth.

It’s out. The mistakes he’s been trying to avoid and bury deep under the ground. No one is on his side. A stupid scandal and his friends who are no good at all. Letting him suffer alone and not helping him at all in any way possible. It’s driving him crazy that he even still calls them his friends when they were one of the first few people who turned their backs at him when he needed them the most. 

The hushed whispers of the students on how his clean image was just a big dumb joke that he pulled so everyone could fall into his trap. No. No one knows the truth and they all continued to judge him. Ignoring their own flaws and mistakes, but so easily point out his. Everyone looks at him like he’s a disgusting human being. 

This made him mad. Boiling deep inside and his one chance for a better life, the girl whose hair was the same color of the sunset and whose smile makes him forget that he’s walking this hell of a life he’s living. He lost her too. Not to just anyone but to a boy whose head is full of air and smirks like he knows that he’s a devil.

His fingers curl around the steering wheel as he parked his car, ready to see his baby once again. Lush was like his child. He loved it as much as he loved making music and often Lush was the place where ideas for his new songs were born. Holding himself accountable to many of the popular idols group songs. 

His steps were light as he entered Lush. Just a few hours before the opening, he goes to check everything at least thrice or twice a week and his employees have seen him up close, roaming around Lush to make sure everything works accordingly. He wanted to avoid mishaps that could affect his business because everyone that works for him would be affected too in one way or another. 

Amongst his employees, some consider this certain person as his favorite but he doesn’t see it like that. It’s more of Wonshik finding a friend who understands his music, which not many understands especially unless it’s already done and ready for the world to hear. But the process of making one song alone is a lot of work and it was good that he could confide to someone and hear some opinion and pieces of advice. 

Quickly stopping by the bar, Wonshik asks for a bottle of beer while everyone gets ready for the opening hour. Chilling his ass off at the bar, his eyes scan the place quickly and he spots his friend, the amazing dj of Lush. Quite a ladies’ man as he would describe him but Wonshik won’t be surprised if guys go crazy for him too, he is an attractive looking person. On stage and off stage.

After being so detached from the society, Wonshik gave himself a chance on reconnecting with the outside world. Out of his studio for once and into the real world, under the sun and amongst the other mortals who mask themselves with smiles, wealth, and status to hide the pain and sadness in their lives. It’s not Sumin who talked him out to this but Bora. She was indeed a crazy girl. 

But she was right, he needs to go out there and stop living behind the safety that his home and office gives. He drove a long time just to get here, he got lost a couple of times having missed out the turns he should’ve taken. Upon arriving, he realizes the cameras and the staff around the area. Anxiety crept up on him. He had the invitation for some reason. Whoever did send the invitation must’ve known him or at least his work. He goes out to find his tent in silence. There was no need for a tentmate. He had asked this beforehand. He does get nightmares and most of them give him panic attacks in the middle of the night, he isn’t fond of giving people any trouble. 

After putting everything down, he stretches his arms a bit. The place was indeed glamorous. Whoever thought he won’t bring alcohol was a fool. Filling up the mini fridge with some easy to look food that he brought along with his bottles and cans of alcohols, he goes out to explore. Avoiding the crowd for now. Maybe the woods would be nice. Some fresh air to clean up his mind a bit. 

He goes walking around with his hands in his pockets as a habit. Yet the sight of that sunset colored hair haunts him. He knows her even from afar. Her hair color was different from the rest. It didn’t look fake nor did it look like anything that left the description of beautiful. He closed his eyes for a second as he tried to calm himself down, she was gone when he opened his eyes. Maybe it’s just him longing to see her again. It hurt him and yet it also makes him smile. She was the perfect kind of irony in his life. 

He let himself get lost out in the woods and finally, she appeared again, this time he didn’t close his eyes to give himself a second to breathe. His heart raced and he was breaking a cold sweat as he followed her. Rushed footsteps that made his legs feel wobbly. 

He thought he couldn’t walk any faster but when he saw her about to trip herself with those broken branches on the ground, he hurriedly grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her back to his chest. His heart raced against his chest while his lips remained agape as he tried to catch a breath.

The word friend leaves a bitter and nasty taste in Wonshik’s mouth, thus causing him to not call the people he is close with, to be that. For example, Sumin. Cha Sumin who he considers as his Girl Best Bro. 

Often, Wonshik comes to her with stupid questions and sometimes they just drink and admire women from a distance without questioning each other’s sexuality. Probably because neither one of them cares. She’s been working at Lush for quite some time which Wonshik doesn’t remember fully. He just remembers her existing in his life naturally like it was destiny. 

Not in a romantic way. Wonshik doesn’t see her as that. He sees her more as a bro. A dude he can talk to and ask if his jacket makes him look like a pimp and clink bottles with. 

“Yeah, mom. Sure. I’ll check if I can take her to the dinner. Hah.” Trying to end the call as soon as possible before he goes to grab his drink again, sighing heavily. Why did he say his girlfriend’s name was Sumin? Why Sumin of all people? He thinks to himself while staring at the nothingness his life will become if Sumin doesn’t agree to pretend as his long term girlfriend. 

His parents are too conservative for him to just pick someone to pretend for him. Plus, he’s not good with dealing with women anymore. Unless he was taking them to bed or spoiling them with stuff, but Wonshik didn’t want any of that. He just wants someone to look decent in front of his parents and someone he is comfortable with. 

“Fuck it.” He whispered to himself as he grabs another bottle of beer for Sumin going backstage to check on her since she was done dancing by then. “Sumin?” He called out as he goes backstage, leaning against the closed door of her dressing room.

Everything in his life seemed to be going at its own pace and that alone was enough for Wonshik. He was doing his music and his career was doing well. There wasn’t a lot that Wonshik could ask for. Other than peace of mind. Hoping that he would be given a chance to get himself out of his head even for just a few hours. 

Memories of yesterday still haunt him, memories that continue to hold him back. These memories have chained him completely into his own despair but these memories fuel his passion for writing and doing his music. He walks around the city to get some sun, maybe interact with the rest of the population but he never actually talks to anyone. He just wants a refreshing view, something other than the screen or the four corners of his studio. He looks ahead of him, a coffee shop calls for his attention and with the heat of summer, he felt parched. Heading straight up to the counter when he saw her. 

“Minjung?” His first love. His sister-in-law. That was impossible. They’re staying in Japan now. She couldn’t possibly be here. Wonshik shook the thought but still, she remains in his vision. Sticking like glue to his peripheral vision. He swallowed thickly. His throat felt dry as he waited for his order. 

Taking a deep breath, he turns to see if it was really her. It felt like someone was playing tricks on him. Some kind of fucked up sorcery. It couldn’t be her. But whoever it is, she looks exactly like Minjung. Torturing his mind with that smile, those eyes that reek of innocence and those lips that made him sin like he was living his life to the fullest then.

Cheongnam way too long ago..

“Lots of fresh new faces this year.” Wonshik nodded his head while looking at the newbies roaming the halls of Cheongnam. His friends would politely greet the girls that pass by them. “You guys, I’m gonna go ahead.” Peeling himself away from leaning against the wall, stuffing her hands into his pockets. “Where are you going?” They ask him. “Away from you guys. I don’t want to be labeled as a playboy.” Grinning as he turns his back on them. Girls greeting him along the hallway, he greets them in return and leaves them giggling to themselves while he continues on his way. 

But in the crowded hallway, a certain girl passes by him and he halts. He didn’t know why he stopped, but he did so in the middle of a crowded place. Turning to look, she was left with just the image of the girl’s back. “Weird.” Tilting his head as he continues to walk to his classroom, hoping that today would just come to an end already. His day continues and when the bell rings for lunch, he stretches her arms as he leaves the classroom. Trying to get rid of his sleepiness. It wasn’t long till his friends join him and they fool around. That’s what boys do at their age. Live their life to the fullest every day, enjoying youth before it passes them by. 

“Cut it out!” He tells them while laughing, breaking free from their hold and bumping into someone by accident. He immediately turns to see the person, but seeing that she was already picking up the books, he had to help her out. He didn’t speak as he picks up the books with her and accidentally holding her hand, she looks up to him and his heart skips a beat. Chills run down on his spine as she looked at him, a smile immediately creeps up onto his lips as he looked at her. 

“Hey.” He said while handing her books back to her. “Kim Wonshik!” His friends called him and he forgets the rest of what he wanted to say to her so he slowly jogged back to his friends, turning to look at her one last time before mentally kicking himself.
