âThis is the part where you donât expect too much,â she said into his ear. Â âThis is the part Iâm not good at.â Â
âClaire,â he tried to raise up but she wouldnât let him. Â He felt one hot tear on his shoulder. Â
âClaire, please.â Â His heart squeezed tight. Â She hugged him tighter. Â
For the first time ever, he wished Frank Randall were alive. Â I wish ye were here right now to watch me take yer wife, and do what ye couldna do. Ye bastard.
Jamie rolled to his side taking Claire with him. Â He kissed her then. Â Trying to tell her what she wouldnât believe. Â That she was beautiful, and sexy, and sensual. When he felt her relax into his kisses he touched her again. Â Her hips twitched. Good, still sensitive. Â He slid his fingers inside her. Â Stroked her. Â Felt her body respond. Â
Her moved over her again, nudged her knees apart. Â And watched her. Â Her head was turned on the pillow, away from him. Â It felt wrong, to enter her like this. Â But how else to show her? Â How else to prove to her? Â
He moved then. Â Slowly. Â Steadily. Â Watched her every movement, looked for any discomfort. Â He slid home. Â
Her eyes flew open. She turned her head sharply to look at him.
âOkay?â he asked, unsure of her reaction.
âMy God,â she breathed.
He slid a hand down her body to urge her legs higher on his hips. Â Watched her eyes widen again as he ground himself into her. Â
He flexed his hips. Â Slowly. Â Over. Â And over. Â He watched her amber eyes darken. Â Her lips part. Â Her breath become shallow. Â
It was intoxicating, making love to her. Â She was everything he knew she would be. Â If this was what she saw between them, no wonder it stopped her in her tracks. Â
Her body answered him. Â He quickened his pace to meet hers. Â Her hands were all over him again. Â In his hair. Â Holding on to his bottom. Â Clasping his neck. Â He closed his eyes and lost himself in the feel of her. Â
Hot. Â Soft. Â Tight. Â The sensation of her gripping his hips.
âYou feel so different,â she muttered. Â âSo very different.â
He grit his teeth waiting for her. Â Determined to drive the demons out of her. Replace the shadows that lived in her memory. Â And when he felt her tighten around him, her muscles contracting, he let go. Â
He let go and gave himself to her. Â Body, mind, heart and soul. Â
God. Â How she owned his soul.
They lay tangled together, drowsy and contented, both on the edge of sleep. Â But Jamie needed to know something first. Â
âSorcha?â he whispered. Â She stirred slightly. Â âWhat did ye mean, I felt different?â Â He brushed the curls back from her face.
âI donât know. Â Fuller, I guess.â
Jamie chuckled low in his throat. Â Take that, ye bastard, he thought. Â
âIn my heartâŚâ she said, her voice trailing off.  Sleep was fast approaching.  âI donât know how to explain it.â
