5x02 âFight Songâ Sneak Peek: âQuinnâs truth comes out to Brodyâ
Sneak Peek Synopsis: After Quinn gets her results from a visit to the doctor, she tries to separate herself from Brody, but with insistence, Brody finds out the reason WHY Quinn is pushing him away.
Quinn had pretty much spent the entire night tossing and turning, just thinking about the unfortunate news that still felt extremely surreal. She didn't want to go through this alone, but she also needed time to think for herself. If she told Brody, he would have been crushed. He had already lost someone that was close to him to cancer, he didn't need to know that he could potentially lose her too. Quinn knew she had to protect Brody from what was going on, and she figured the only way she was going to do so was by breaking up with him. She didn't want to, he was one of the only things to make her happy these days, but she also didn't want to be a burden to him. Quinn got up from the bed and made her way towards the kitchen where she noticed breakfast was already on the table and Brody was reading a newspaper with a cup of coffee placed in front of him. He looked up and gave her a smile, which made Quinn feel sick to her stomach.
"Hey you, I was wondering if you were hungry." Brody motioned towards the food on the table, with Quinn slowly walking over. French toast, pancakes, fruit salad; it was almost as if Brody was trying to give her the continental breakfast of her dreams. Quinn sat down at the table while giving him a saddened smile, Brody looking at her and grabbing her hand. He knew there was something off about Quinn since the phone call she received yesterday, but he didn't really want to push her into revealing something she wasn't comfortable with. "Is everything okay? Did you sleep good?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah...I...I slept fine." Quinn lied, but Brody noticed the bags under Quinn's eyes, seeing she was trying to make him believe that everything was okay. "So...what's all this for?" Quinn motioned with her free hand towards all the stuff on the table, Brody giving her a grin.
"This my dear is for you and I thought you would want a nice breakfast." Brody shrugged his shoulders which caused Quinn to softly smile. "I know, I'm cool like that."
"Yes, you are extremely cool, Brody." Quinn gave a light chuckle before her face turned serious. "Brody, I need to talk to youâŚ.it's important."
"Oh boyâŚ" Brody leaned back in his chair, raising an eyebrow towards her. "This doesn't have to do with me snoring last night, does it? Cause I'm sorry but I can't control it.."
"No, this has nothing to do with youâŚ" Quinn shook her head, squeezing his hand and sadly glancing into his eyes. "Um, this has to do with me...with us actually."
"OhâŚ" Was all Brody was able to muster before Quinn continued speaking.
"Brody, you have been an amazing, thoughtful and loving human being and I love you for it." Quinn softly said, noticing she was getting tears in her eyes. "You've been caring, compassionate, and just everything I've ever wanted in a guy. But I have been doing a lot of thinking andâŚ"
"Wait a minute," Brody stopped Quinn from talking as he stared at her with a hurt expression on his face. "Are you breaking up with me?" Quinn gulped as tears fell from her face, shaking her head and looking away from him.
"Brody, please don't make this any harder than it has to be." Quinn said just above a whisper.
"What I want to know is why." Brody shook his head with muddle. "Why are you breaking up with me?"
"It's not you, it's me." Quinn insisted.
"Oh gee, where have I heard that before?" Brody crossed his arms and let out a scoff. "Let's try from every cliche romantic comedy."
"Brody, I mean it." Quinn said. "The reason has to do with me, you did nothing wrong."
"So if I did nothing wrong, why won't you tell me the reason that you're so insistent on leaving me?" Brody's voice became firm.
"Because I'm trying to protect you." Quinn fought back.
"Oh, you're trying to protect me now?" Brody let out a feigned laugh. "Quinn, I don't need protecting. What, did...did you cheat on me or something?"
"No, Brody I would never do that to you." Quinn felt her anger boil as Brody became furious.
"So if you didn't cheat on me, then why are you doing this? What is 'so upsetting' that you have to just dump me for no good reason?!" Brody got up from his chair.
"BecauseâŚ.," Quinn got up at the same time, Brody glaring at her.
"Because, WHY?!" Brody bellowed.
"BECAUSE I HAVE BREAST CANCER!" Quinn erupted, which caused Brody to blankly stare at her and his face to turn to confusion. All the anger he had a moment ago was gone, and now he was worried about her. Quinn covered her mouth with her hand as tears went down her face, Brody walking over to her and pulling her in for a hug. "I'm so sorry, BrodyâŚ.," Quinn said through her tears, with Brody rubbing her back and glancing at her with comfort.
"ShhâŚ." Brody soothingly said, Quinn leaning her head on his chest and letting the tears flow. "It's okayâŚ, it's going to be okayâŚ. I'm not going anywhere." Quinn gripped onto him while she kept crying, and the only thing Brody could think about was how worried he was for her. And even for himself. After losing his sister to leukemia, he never wanted to have to go through this again. But the person that was the most important to him was dealing with something just as dangerous and just as deadly. All of this made Brody wonder, why did everything he love had to be taken away from him by such a horrible disease?
