An Inbox Experience As Unique As You Are
By Josh Jacobson, Director, Product Management
We know that each Yahoo Mail user is an individual, so we’re excited to announce new features for iOS, Android and desktop that allow you to have a more personalized inbox experience.
Check out what’s new, and start enjoying a better Mail experience today.
Notifications for emails you want to see: Wading through all the emails you receive, from businesses to friends, to get to those from the people you care about most can be difficult. And up until now, you only had the option to receive email notifications for everyone (or no-one). Starting today, you can turn on people-only notifications on iOS, Android and desktop so important emails from friends and family don’t get buried in your inbox. Now, you’ll only get homescreen notifications for emails from people, not for promotions or newsletters.
To enable on iOS and Android, go to settings, tap notifications, and enable the option for just people. To do the same on desktop, go to settings, tap viewing email, and enable desktop notifications for emails from people.
Quick actions: Last week, we announced the ability to take more action, right from your homescreen, on the Android app. Now iOS users can enjoy some of the same updates. Customize your notification swipe actions so you can delete, star, archive and more right from the notifications on your homescreen
Email preview (iOS only): We heard from many of you that you wanted control over how much of an email you see when you receive a push notification. Now, you can set your notifications to show you the full email or adjust it so you only see the first few lines. To disable email preview, go to your settings, tap notifications, then under notification options disable “show previews.”
The new features are available for iOS (iOS version 4.9) and Android (Android version 5.10) today. Be sure to update your Yahoo Mail app to check them out, and as always, we’d love to hear your feedback – just go to Settings and tap “Send Feedback.”
