19: What is your favorite slice of life anime?
Wow, this is a hard one. It’s not that I haven’t seen much slice of life anime -- it’s that I’ve seen so much of it and a vast majority of it was not all that memorable. I’m an indecisive little shit who can’t pick just one, so here’s a list (in no particular order):
Natsume Yuujinchou (this counts, right?), which will always have a special place in my heart
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, for obvious reasons (tangentially, check out this awesome mashup concerning the opening song)
Hyouka, because it’s absolutely adorable
Kokoro Connect, which I might have considered very mediocre if I saw it in the recent past, but I watched it at a point where I was slowly coming to the realization that sometimes, if you look hard enough, anime can actually be good; also, props to being the only form of media I’ve ever experienced where people not related to each other tell each other, completely unironically, "I love you,” with zero romantic subtext
Orange, which is heartbreaking in a lot of different ways, but (spoiler alert) it has a happy ending and it’s very heartwarming
Golden Time, which kind of flew under the radar even when it was airing, but it somehow kept things very real? For an anime? I’m not sure how it accomplished that :P I’m not a huge fan of the ending, though
Sangatsu no Lion, which is probably my current favorite slice of life to date, across both manga and anime -- it’s amazing just watch it pls
Honorable manga mentions:
Last Game, which is absolutely hilarious and over the top
Horimiya, which is so hilarious and also so sweet
Taiyou no Ie, which is so heartbreaking and also so sweet
