âYou donât have to be alone.â (questdrivencollierps)
Unexpected best described the phrase spoken pointedly by the elder.
Her blue hues became more prominent as her eyes widened. The color contained in her irises seemed to deepen. She thought about the six words, all strung together. She didnât think she was alone, she had plenty of friends! ... she always had. Right?
She couldnât explain it. She pinpointed a hard pang in her chest, right atop her heart. She grimaced internally, keeping a straight face otherwise. She felt her eyes start to sting as she blankly stared forward, forcing herself to try and focus on something else, to no avail. Why had the words hit her so hard? Was it affection from a motherly figure? Somehow she suspected it may be more than that.Â
She decided to get it over with and blink the tears down, and give them the final push that would send them rolling down her cheeks. Words escaped her. She had said nothing after.
