On this, the second day of Pride month: remember that your relationships don’t have to look like cis/hetero relationships. Remember that you don’t have to look a certain way or love a certain way or think a certain way to deserve respect and acknowledgment. Remember where pride started. Remember the impact of QTPOC on the founding of pride. Remember that we owe our loyalty to no agency or corporation that pink washes to capitalize on us. Remember our bodies are fought for. Remember that people aren’t always going to like that fact. Remember that even while the world is changing, our safety and security is not guaranteed. Remember that those who cannot or do not want to “come out” deserve the same amount of dignity for that situation. Remember that the community is not always fair or just to everyone who identifies. Remember that queerness is an identity even if you don’t like the word. Remember that feminism is only truly feminism if every person is allowed to participate. Remember gate keeping is not cool.
