If someone was to learn Finnish before Estonian, would they find Estonian easier? I want to learn both but am starting with Finnish as resources are more abundant. Rakastan viroa, on niin söpö kieli (idk if that makes any sense but it's a try!)
As Estonian and Finnish belong to the same language group and have similar grammar, I’d say yes! :) But beware of the words that mean different things in these languages.

What do Estonians think of people learning their language? Are they open to it or do they prefer to just speak in English (in certain countries I've been to, people have just spoken over you in English rather than give you have a chance to form a sentence in their language...)
It really depends on the situation - if the things needs to be done quickly, Estonian will use English to get it done..
When it’s more relaxing situation most of us find infinite time to let you form your sentence as Estonians actually like if someone takes interest in our language :)
