THE WORLD IS A TERRIBLE PLACE, right? In light of all this terribleness, we will be sitting down to talk about some kinds of terribleness - the kinds that interrupt infrastructure, have the potential for widespread control of movement, and require us to interface with the state to meet our needs for food, shelter, and so on. Think natural disasters, widespread attacks, and other bad things that it never hurts to plan for, right? We will be focusing some on general disaster preparedness - what to have around the house, what to expect, et cetera - with a focus specifically on some queer concerns: * what to do when your gender doesn't match your identification * what to do when your family is not legally connected in a way the state recognizes * how to handle the likelihood of increased state control when you are already at risk for increased state control (due to race, immigration status, et cetera) Your questions will inform our content so if you have some, please send them in to ariel at arielspeedwagon.com! We ask people to RSVP to assure attendance and cover the cost of the room rental and other workshop expenses. No one will be turned away at the door for lack of funds.
