He still couldn’t believe he was doing this. Helping a goddamn Avenger of all people when he was meant to be AGAINST them, on the opposite side and here he was perched on a roof ready to help one and possibly the most dangerous one. You’re a goddamn idiot, that voice in his head told him, a goddamn idiot and a goddamn sucker. As if he didn’t know that. One little sob story and he was risking his own neck for her.  Crouched down, peering over the edge of the high rooftop and waiting for the agent to leave their house so he could get a good, CLEAN shot. His shock arrow was already nocked, the slight humming almost DISTRACTING as he waited. They should’ve been out by now. Had they been tipped off? Little traitorous———

There he was. Man dressed in a suit, like he was any ordinary citizen. Bullshit, Barney knew better. Adjusting his grip slightly, one hand moved up to turn on the communications device in his ear.   ❝     Heads up. Got our target coming out at my three o’clock.    ❞   He takes his shot, lands it, then she makes her little GRAND ENTRANCE. All showy just for their one-man audience. More, the better in his opinion. A shock and being shot with an arrow would be enough to disorientate him and red flares all around from his weird ass powers? So long as he didn’t get tossed off a damn BUILDING, Barney was good with taking a few hits. He gave another peek over towards the large lake nearby. Good view, perfect place for the Scarlet Witch’s body to get LOST.

Apollo had been home for about a week so far. He always took a vacation at the beginning of the summer break, wanting to get out and visit his family before the hot months hit. Most of the time he walked around in shorts and half undone button ups, looking like some rich asshole taking a vacation. In a way he was. He only occasionally helped his family out with chores, not that they wanted any helping. While they might have loved Apollo, none of them were comfortable with their son choosing a life of education, poetry, and art. The fact that he was gay didn’t help.

However today he wasn’t thinking that. Instead he had stopped his pick up truck halfway down the road to his house, hopping out and jumping over a fence all to approach a young, yet beautiful boy. “Hi. I’ve seen you around. I’m Apollo.” He grinned, lifting his sunglasses to rest them on his head as he held out his hand.

     The last thing that he remembered was the imposing shadow of the Mad Titan’s great ship looming into view, most everything else was a violent, BLOODY blur after that. He fought valiantly, of course he did, side by side with his brother, but they were no match for Thanos. Loki tried — oh how he tried — to save them, summoning all his strength to open a gateway to another Realm in the hopes that they could escape... But only Loki seemed to make it through in time.

     Staggering out of the portal, into the abandoned alley, everything went BLACK as the trickster collapsed.

He was more used to being on his own, some bad habits lingering. He’d needed to clean up and had failed to put back on a shirt afterwards, forgetting the woman sharing the motel room now that she was ‘DEAD’. There were many scars across his body, some prominent, some having faded over his many years. They littered the flesh, distorting it and weaving tales of HARDSHIP onto his skin. There were the more obvious ones like a few on his back and a distinct one running down his shoulder, but perhaps the more unusual ones were the clear cut bullet wound scars, five of them scattered across his chest, three of them having exit wounds on his back. A glance down before Barney’s shoulders rose and fell; it was hardly the WORST tale he had.   ❝     I got outed as an undercover FBI agent while I was working for this crime lord. He wasn’t exactly HAPPY to know I was on the other side. Dragged me to a warehouse and had me shot.    ❞    He and his little boys, if they hadn’t been such terrible shots, he probably would have had more bullet wounds and probably would have really been dead.
