TOTK Storyline Progression (Spoilers!)
I've been thinking about where TOTK is placed in BOTW's storyline (I genuinely don't connect either of these two to any other game presently due to the nature of BOTW/TOTK's story progression from start to finish and all that's revealed in both games).
So we have 100 years ago is when the Sheikah tech came back to fight big beast Calamity because the Sheikah tech (guardians and divine beasts) were built specifically for the fight against it. The 100 years ago is the memories we see from Zelda and Link as well as the four designated champions of that period (Rito Revali, Zora Mipha, Goron Daruk and Gerudo Urbosa) face off and ultimately fail; Calamity kills the champions, takes over the guardians and the divine beast, gravelly injures Link and Zelda is forced to spend 100 years holding that fucker in the castle.
10,000 years prior was the first fight with the original champions; the four unnamed champions that first piloted the divine beasts which are never shown in the story beyond the original mural we see when Impa in BOTW is explaining the events of Calamity Ganon.
Now, going back to TOTK's storyline, the events of the game happen EVEN EARLIER because there's no divine beast, Ganondorf is the mere Gerudo King/Chief who eventually gets a secret stone (coughs steals it via murder) and becomes ala Demon King, throwing his malice around like a big boy. We see SAGES, not champions in this storyline. We know from the prior statements that this has to be before all the relevant story stuff from BOTW due to the fact that this era she returns to in TOTK is the FOUNDING of Hyrule, showing Sonia and Rauru, the first queen and king of Hyrule and their claim of being its founders.
Now this begs the initial question I'm pondering. Just HOW far back is the era of the founding of Hyrule? How long ago was the events of Ganondorf's transformation via the stone as well as the death of the rulers of Hyrule and the subsequent sealing of the Demon King deep below? 30,000 years before the ending of BOTW? I wonder just how back Zelda went in TOTK. Just interesting to think about that.
