Photography on the go in Bristol

I was in Bristol for other reasons yesterday but, I had my smartphone on me so, in the interests of pursuing some 'photography on the go', I shot these scenes. I'll be honest and admit that while these images were shot with a smartphone camera, they were edited and processed on my laptop using a combination of Affinity Photo and Corel PaintShop Pro 2023.

Sights seen in Bristol

The sun was out, the weather was mild for the time of year and it felt just right to hop on a train into Bristol for a wander round with the camera. There were plenty of people out and about along the harbourside simply chilling out…it was great:)

Reflections in the square

Puddles we encountered around Queen Square on a mooch through Bristol. There's an aspect of these reflection shots being creative, with interest added by the buildings reflected in the water and the texture of the cobbles. However, on the other hand, they're a clear indication of the dire state of the pedestrian infrastructure in the city as a result of years of neglect and skewed priorities from Bristol City Council:(

Scenes from a square…

These images were shot last Saturday in Queen Square, a welcome oasis of calm amidst the bustle of Bristol City centre. After a winter of seemingly relentless grey skies, the blue sky, occasional fluffy clouds and the sunshine, along with the accompanying shadows, made for a welcome change:)

Shadow play

We had a rare day of…blue sky and sunshine! With sunshine come the shadows… So, when we were walking around Bristol today (22.2), I had to shoot a few shadow shots. They've been rendered in black and white to remove any distractions.
