“No. No. No!” Qrow fell to your side as he carefully pulled you into his lap. He pressed a hand to your side where you had just pulled a metal bar out of. You made a loud hissing noise and gripped onto his shoulder. “This is why I tried staying away from you.”

You laughed before letting out a wet cough, blood speckling your lips, “And I told you I knew what I was getting into. We both knew how this would end. Which is why I wanted to spend time with you when I could.”

Qrow shot you a look, “You could have lived a long happy life.”

“Without you,” you added.

His look of angry didn’t let up but you knew it wasn’t directed at you. He was angry at himself more than anything.

“I’m nothing worth dying over, darling,” he let out like a sigh.

You gave him a weak smile and reached out, finding his free hand and giving it the best squeeze you could in the moment.

“You are,” the conversation lulled as you focused on bringing air into your lungs as best you could with the blood pooling in them. “Did I make you happy?”

Qrow’s face moved from angry to confusion. He lifted the hand from your wound and gingerly caressed your face, neither of you caring about the crimson streaks he left behind, “More than anything.”

Your eyes welled up, “Remember that. For me, please. Sometimes happiness is short lived but it’s worth it. A long life full of misery isn’t worth anything.”

Qrow nodded, swallowing hard.

He leant down pressing a kiss to your lips, both of you knowing it would be your last. You tried to focus on the feeling as your world slowly slipped away from you.

Qrow let a few tears slip as he pulled your body close.

A sudden gasping noise, followed by rough coughing made him let go in surprise and caused you to hit your head. You turned your head to the side as you coughed up blood until your lungs clear. The pain in your side dulled though the one where you had hit your head had just started.

“Ow!” you shouted gripping the back of your head.

“Y/N!” Qrow scrambled pulling you up again.

“Am I dead? If I am this sucks,” you groaned.

“No! You died but I don’t-” he froze and gave you a serious look as you still tried to understand what was happing “Your semblance.”

Your eyebrows furrowed, “My semblance?”

“You never knew what it was. What if it’s death? Or maybe life,” he rambled.

“Are you serious?” you gave him a look.

“Explain how you’re not dead,” he challenged.
