There are so many reasons to be excited about the Chattanooga Zoo’s signature summer event. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been coming for years, Q’ n Brew is summer fun for the whole family. If you love animals, BBQ, brews, bluegrass, or even relaxing with friends, Q’ n Brew is the place for you. Since Q’ n Brew is only a week away we decided to pick our top 5 reasons we’re excited for our favorite summertime event!
1. The BBQ & Brews
Obviously, we’re pretty excited about the BBQ. After all, whenever you get together a group of the best BBQ joints around town, there’s really no wrong choice for dinner. Each of our vendors were hand-selected for their reputation of serving juicy barbecue and traditional trimmings. Our BBQ vendors will have a couple of options for dinner plates (prices vary by vendor), but all are sure to knock your socks off. They’re gearing up this week to feed y’all some smokin’ q’ and great sides. What makes a BBQ even better? We suggest an ice cold brew as well. Not a beer drinker? Don’t worry, we also have water, soft drinks, and wine! Our vendors include: Bareknuckles BBQ, Puckett's Grocery, Rolling J's, Rib-n-Loin, Texas Roadhouse, CJ's Competition BBQ, Sticky Fingers, & Tikis Shaved Ice.
2. The Bluegrass
It wouldn’t be an American-style picnic without some folk and bluegrass music. New this year, we have three separate performers playing the night. First up, we have solo artist Matt Downer, who plays old time, good time, get down music. Next, we have Mountain Cove Band, playing a blend of traditional and modern bluegrass, with the unique addition of a harmonica. Additionally, we have booked Slim Pickins Bluegrass who have lively, fast-paced shows that are upbeat, unapologetic, and most importantly fun! 3. The Games & Activities
As a family destination, when we say that our event is family-friendly we mean it. We have a variety of activities that the whole family can enjoy! New this year, we have a kids water play area with spray rocks that provide a light mist for your kiddos to cool off. We also have updated our selection of lawn games- now with yard Jenga, Twister, Ladder Golf, and classic corn hole! We have also booked an airbrush tattoo group, Radikal TAT2, to provide airbrush tattoos for the whole family. Finally, we are continuing with animal meet and greets that provide an up-close encounter with some of our Zoo animals! With all that’s going on, there sure won’t be a boring moment.
4. Tortoise Races
A fan favorite for the past couple of years, we will be continuing our popular tortoise races again this year! Come out and cheer on your favorite tortoise as they race for the title of fastest tortoise at the Zoo. We will have two separate races, one at 7pm and one at 8pm. Our African Spur-Thighed Tortoises may be big, but that doesn’t mean they’re slow pokes!
5. Doing Good
The best part about attending Q’ n Brew? Your money is directly supporting the Chattanooga Zoo’s efforts in the field of conservation, animal husbandry and care, and community education. The money raised from Q’ n Brew goes towards providing food and veterinary care for our animals, exhibit and facility improvements, and educational programming for thousands of children in the community. Doing good while having fun? Sounds like a pretty good time!
