slightly abbreviated version, cunhua's family was slaughtered and eaten by a pack of wolves and cunhua, who they thought was too spindly to be any good eating, got smashed in the head and thrown in a ditch. as a reuslt, they are blind, are somewhat physically disabled, have obv severe wolf-related trauma, and cannot remember much besides the day they saw their family killed and then Eaten

qiulang is a wolf whose uncle is tryna pressure him into eating sheep too (many ppl in the pack don't wanna Do That bc it's like highkey cannibalism in this humanoid animal society), so he decides to pose as a guardian dog to lure a gullible sheep straight to the pack. he's pretty dog-ish so he hears about a blind sheep in need of guardianship and he's like ok deal lol

sheep (cunhua) is actually way more work than qiulang anticipated. they are 1. blind 2. fragile 3. plagued with horrific nightmares 4. completely impenetrable, emotion/trust-wise. they can't understand or show emotion right they are always smiling even if they're saying the most horrific stuff ever. they also often say things like "if a wolf ever touches me i will kill myself" or attempt to sh or even kill the self and qiulang has to stop em

he feels increasingly guilty about all this bc 1. he's a wolf 2. he's, often touching cunhua since he's serving as their guardian and guide 3. he's starting to care 4. his uncle is growing impatient. eventually his uncle and his gang attack, and qiulang defends cunhua and they go on the run. but at this point cunhua asks "are you a wolf" (something they do a lot) and qiulang has to say "..yes"

their big moment is qiulang taking off his thick gloves to show cunhua his claws, and cunhua very shakily touching them. shakily bc poor fine motor skills but also shakily bc they have been under the guardianship of a wolf all this time???? after this, qiulang continues to serve as cunhua's guard/guide but now they are simultaneously on worse and better terms, always sitting close (cunhua likes to touch their head against qiulang's) but rarely ever speaking. qiulang is quadruple the amount of determined to protect them and make up for his uncle's wrongdoings; he severs ties with his old pack and takes cunhua far away so they'll be safe THE END

anyway their current dynamic, cunhua always had trouble remembering qiulang's false name (gou) but instantly remembered his real name. occasionally cunhua will ask qiulang to take off his gloves (he wears em still) so they can touch his hands. they're bigger than cunhua's as you might notice in most of their art and qiulang sometimes has the urge to just close his hands around cunhua's to keep them warm but feels he shouldn't do that, it might scare them. so he just follows cunhua's lead n they never get anywhere, which neither of them mind. what they have now is good
