Broke out the old gouache paints again to paint the funny train mans as pyrematuses, the flaming, magical variant of my make-believe critter, the coramatus.
Emmet and Ingo make for weird pyrematuses. Black and white flames are extremely uncommon as are floppy ears. But they wear it well, I think!
A blue-green/teal pyrematus! Because I felt like I needed something between the blue and green ones.
A purple pyrematus! Looking at what, I have no idea.
Fun fact: The coramatus and pyrematus species do not get along. Pyrematuses think coramatuses are stupid beasts that are beneath them. And a coramatus needs to take only one look at a pyrematus for it to go “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA FIRE SCARY” and immediately run away.
An indigo pyrematus... that must have gotten into some funny mushrooms if that expression is anything to go by.

And now for a not so ordinary coramatus in the form of their colorful flaming cousin, the pyrematus!
The key difference between the pyrematus and coramatus is that pyrematuses are practically made of magic while coramatuses are just ordinary terrestrial animals. Because how else could they be on fire? Due to this magical difference, pyrematus are actually sapient, intelligent creatures capable of human speech, though most shun humanity for their long history of trying to hunt them for sport.
In fields of black barren lava,
On blackest of moonless nights,
Do not follow the dancing pyre lights.
For they lead not to naught but a raging beast,
That seeks your end in burning peace.
I.e. QUIT TRESSASSING ON PYREMATUS TURF OR THIS’LL BE THE LAST THING YOU EVER SEE.
A red pyrematus putting up a full display of aggression; snarling and puffing its hottest flames as a warning before unleashing its full fury.
As a lighting experiment, this could’ve gone better but I’ll take it.
