*deep breath*……*incoherent fangirl screaming*…..*deep breath*….. Okay…I’m good now. So, this book is freaking awesome! The second I started reading this I fell head over heels in love with Oxnard, our main character. He’s such a sweetheart and needs to be protected at all costs! All of the characters are amazing, but Ox is just so pure. He just wants to protect his family and live in peace. I kind of feel like all of these characters are my children now, from the shop boys and Jessie and grumpy-ass Gordo, to the lovable dorks Carter and Kelly, Joe and Ox, the rest of the Bennett’s, and sweet adorkable Robbie. They all deserve so many cuddles 😊! I don’t know what it is about this book that really drew me in. Maybe it was the incredibly sweet way that Ox sees the world, or the way that all of the characters are written, or the fact that this book is dripping with representation for LGBTQ+ and people of color. All that really matters is that this book hooked me and never let go. I love that Wolfsong is so representative, especially for being an urban fantasy book. This is seriously one of the most well written and inclusive books that I’ve ever read. I would highly recommend that you give this book a try!! Especially if you want something that embraces the LGBTQ+ community wholeheartedly (with a little urban fantasy thrown in, of course). Some other things that are awesome about this book: the loving and accepting parents, a found family, hilarious (and we’re talking laughing your ass off funny) scenes, lots of angsty goodness, and an amazing amount of badass werewolves and humans. I for one, would love to join this blended pack of wolves and humans. Just give me a silver infused crowbar and I’d be good to go 😉. Anyway, this book is getting a solid five stars. I’m really in love with this book. I love that this is a solo series for Magnus and Alec! We get to see how much they love each other and just how dorky they can be. I truly loved getting to be inside their heads. They are so different from Clary or the Blackthorns. Magnus is a jumbled mess of contradictions and I love him for it. He’s snarky and sweet and kind. Alec is still a little confused about love, but he’s making the awkward flirting thing work for him. He’s working on breaking down his and Magnus’s walls so they can work as a couple. It’s just so freakin’ cute. Seriously, they are couples goals. 🙂 Another thing that I really loved about this book was that it was set between the two main arcs of the Mortal Instruments series. It’s set at the beginning of their relationship and we get to see them develop into the true power couple they are. They are adorkable and shy and so sweet with each other. It’s nice to see all of these things that were missed in the OG series. I’m so happy that they are finally getting an in-depth series, they truly deserve it. I’m giving this book a solid five stars. While I normally love Galenorn’s books, this one fell completely flat for me. It almost felt like it was a rough draft rather then a fully fledged book. I DNF’ed this at page 94 because it felt bland and dispassionate and even a little robotic in some scenes. I did skim through the rest of the book after deciding to DNF it, but it just didn’t spark any interest. The characters felt two dimensional and flimsy. They were kind of like dolls; they had little personality and felt like they were just put into the scenes and posed there. It was just frustrating! These characters were cool and with a little more thought put into them they could have made this book so much better. The dialogue also felt stilted and unnatural to the characters and the storyline. Sure, there were a couple of scenes that were great but there was so much more of this book that felt loose and unedited. This book left me unsatisfied and like I wasted my time on it. I loved the premise of this but the execution of it was just lacking so much for me. Issue #9: I really liked how Tim and Tam have bonded over the things that have happened with the league of assassins. And then, Tim just kinda ghosted everyone....🤦‍♀️ sometimes this boy is an idiot. But I still love him and all his sarcastic glory. Tim’s inner monologue is so funny to me, he is a sarcastic little shit (in the best possible way) with a heart of gold. I’m giving issue #9 a solid four out of five stars. Issue #10: Okay, so with this issue we get the reemergence of Stephanie Brown (as batgirl 😆!!) and she is just as snarky as I wanted her to be. She is such an incredible character. I like that she was a sort of morally gray character that has aligned with the batfam. Anyway this issue was really great. It’s kind of starting a huge storyline that’s gonna be epic.
