Early Childhood - Outdoor Reading and Writing Center
Today while working in the Outdoor Classroom, this student became engaged in the Reading and Writing Center, asking to listen to the poem and story that featured boats. We read two poems about boats and childhood by Robert Louis Stevenson and then an informative book on different types of boats.
After our reading, she participated in finding acorn caps to float down the creek. Then, she had an idea, could we make sticks into a boat? We decided to try. Using string, she helped me secure some sticks together. She was elated when it floated in our bucket and down the creek!
From listening and literary exercises to rudimentary engineering, she connected her blossoming knowledge through discovery!
