I figured out a way to get rid of the purl dashes on ribbing. It’s actually rather easy and came to me by accident when I was trying to figure out how much to cast on for a newborn diaper cover.
What you want to do is work the rib of choice with the first color to the length desired. On the right side of your work change to your next color choice but don’t work the ribbing like normal. (I did a 2x2 in the sample pic) Rather, knit all of the stitches across with the knit stitch.
Then continue the rest in the rib of choice to the length desired. Once again change colors on the right side and knit across all the stitches with the knit stitch and then work standard ribbing on the other rows. It’s the knitting of the first row that takes the purl dashes away and presents an even ribbing! ✌
