When he was barely one, his parents were killed in a car accident. He was then sent to live with his mother’s cousins—the Martins—who were his only living relatives. The Martins decided they couldn’t afford him and sent Jean-Paul to the government subsided school of Monsieur DuPont’s where he spent the rest of his childhood at. He didn’t become aware of this until a year ago. Around the same time he learned he had a twin sister.
After the deaths of their parents Jean-Paul and Jeanne-Marie Beaubier is sent to live with the Martins, Jean-Paul is sent to boarding school. Twenty years later they are traumatized, superheroes, and trying to forge some semblance of a happy family. Matters are not made easier by Jean-Paul adopting an HIV positive baby.
Not the best chapter in this story, but it gets us from part a to part b which is all it really need to do.

Although Jeanne-Marie does not need glasses, I think it would be funny if Jean-Paul actually did need them.
