Pulp's Freaks era album artwork
Taking the time to cool off during Mis-Shapes at the Brixton Academy (1995)
Zan Rowe with Jarvis Cocker on Take 5 (x)
I think this may be the cutest friggin' thing I have ever seen on the internet: this is an authentic custom Pulp theme for Windows 95/98/ME/XP from 1998 that someone made all by themselves!!!!! (for a website called pulpfreaks.org no less)
In the readme file they give instructions on how to install it and provide a description for every little picture and sound they used in the theme. For example, on the "open" command they put the beginning of Countdown from Separations and for the "critical stop" sound they put, quote, "the Jarvis pig squeal thing he does in "Acrylic Afternoons" from His -n- Hers".
This quote in particular stood out to me:
"Background image, I think I could have come up with something better than that, for now I think simplicity is the best. And before anyone says to me in email "Blah blah blah blah...Russell isn't in the band...blah blah blah." I don't care, I think his suit matches the background nicely".
Russell left the band only a year before! Really puts the history into perspective.
You can check the zip file out by yourselves, the link is at the top. And if you have a computer with an old operating system lying around somewhere you can even check out the theme itself!

Has anyone noticed before that Russell is cracking up and grinning big time in a couple of shots of the 'Babies' music video, but quickly has to stop himself and return to his default 'serious death stare' face?
Happy birthday to the lovely Candida Doyle!!!
Her keys work is heavily understated and underrated, but is still an integral part of what makes Pulp - Pulp.
Sometimes I look at early Pulp and think: aww, they're such babies here
But then I remember they are literally my age on these pictures...
