❝   i   can   still   smell   it   ...   ❞      a  quick  jog  around  the  perimeter  had  been  the  goal  ,  and  technically  that  goal  had  been  accomplished  .  the  safety  that  came  along  with  living  within  a  community  could  only  be  maintained  if  the  area   directly  outside   of  said  community  was  kept  safe  as  well  ,  and  that  required  diligence            watchful  eyes  ,  the  occasional  clear-out  ,  basic  maintenance  that  was  not  only  expected  but   enjoyed   by  those  asked  to  participate  ;   but  that  enjoyment  didn’t  necessarily  mean  that  things  always  went  off  without  a  hitch  .

for   better   or   for   worse   ,      fear  of  the  dead  was  a  thing  of  the past  ,  and  that  was  what  allowed  the  groaning  being  to  move  in  so  close  .  the  grasping  hands  of  one  formerly  living  man  met  with  the  very-much-living  hands  of  another  as  eric  pushed  back  against  withering  bodyweight  and  without  hesitation  plunged  a  knife  into  rotting  flesh  .  just  like  that  the  problem  was  solved            however when  tip  of  his  knife  entered  the  now  permanently  deceased  nuisance  eric  had  been  showered  with  a  foul  smelling  pallid  liquid  as  it  sprayed  from  the  wound  ,  and  although  he’d  quickly  discarded  of  the  shirt  which  had  been  damaged  ,  as  far  as  eric  was  concerned  the  scent  remained  .      ❝   seriously  ,  i  can  still  smell  it  ...  do  me  a  solid  and  sniff  me  ,  see  if  you  can  smell  it  too  .  if  you  can’t  that  means  it’s  just  in  my  nose  forever  now  and  you  may  as  well  kill  me  right  here  because  i’m  not  living  like  that  .   ❞

𝐒𝐇𝐄'𝐒  𝐓𝐘𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘  𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆  𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐄    by  now,    but  then  she  doesn't  typically  sleep  with  people  she    knows.    it  makes  it  hard  to  sneak  out  when  she's  gotta  work  with  him  again.    but  now  that  she's  awake  to  the  smell  of  bacon,    she's  really  not  regretting  staying  the  night.    that  scent  draws  her  to  the  kitchen,    but  not  before  rolling  out  of  bed  and  tugging  on  his  shirt  from  off  the  floor.    lazily  attempting  to  tame  her  bedhead,    she  steps  into  the  kitchen,    the  sight  of  him  cooking  putting  a  grin  on  her  face.

❝  well  ain't  you    sweet,  ❞    she  comments,    moving  to  sit  at  the  counter.    to  be  entirely  honest,    she    had  also  planned  on  making  breakfast---    she  just  didn't  expect  to  sleep  in  so  late.    reaching  out,    she  steals  a  piece  of  bacon  from  the  plate  of  what's  already  made,    elbows  propped  on  the  counter  as  she  takes  a  bite.    ❝  you  cook  for  all  of  your  bitches?  ❞    she's  teasing,    of  course,    but  she's  still  curious.    she  wants  to  learn  more  about  him  than  what's  in  his  file.
