Ariel is Prospero's light-spirit...he is everything that is good: the positive, nurturing side of everyman. Just as Caliban is the dark, primal, gutteral side. I don't want Ariel to be Puckish. I want to keep him on a higher spiritual plane....He isn't human. In the beginning I didn't even think of him as having gender. Though now he has evolved to the point where - well, I wouldn't call him a man, exactly, but he has what I think of as a masculine silhouette.
