You should absolutely never ever take my recommendations for how to find a literary agent. I might tell you about my experience and my general advice for things like query letters and querying tools, but what I can say is that publishing is a crapshoot and you're better off putting your energy into polishing the next book.

Anyone who tells you that if you only do x, y and z will get you more manuscript requests is full of bs. Everyone's path through publishing is wildly different and... dare I say it, extremely dependent on an unpredictable combo of luck, networking and writing skill.

Would anyone like me to set up a preorder for book 2. Its done, just has a little bit of editing but for sure its going to be done way before I plan to publish it. End of January for the publish date is my goal. Or even early January but I thought that was a little too close to x-mas. Wasn’t sure I wanted it to come out during the holiday season.

The worst thing about Kindle World is that I still have/had vague ideas of working for Amazon's publishing arm one day. I mean, I'm in Seattle and although Amazon's publishing endeavors have been odd to date, they're the only real publishing house in the area.

But every thing I learn about them just turns me off more and more. They may say they're modernizing the industry, but I don't see the value to the changes they're making. Adding more direct-to-publish venues and minimizing the role of the editor isn't something to applaud or further research. Vanity presses are a fad that I hope die out before too long, but Amazon isn't exactly encouraging modern, beginning authors to explore the traditional means of agents and houses and editors.
