Paring morning gains on Wednesday, the Sensex and Nifty turned volatile in the afternoon trade on Wednesday. The indices finally ended in the negative zone on closing as investors booked profits ahead of the expiry of futures & options contracts. The BSE Sensex lost 100.50 points to end at 38,132.88 with YES Bank being the biggest gainer, while NTPC the top drag on the index. Reliance, HDFC twins, TCS, and Infosys contributed the most to the Sensex loss. The Nifty50 index of the NSE settled below 11,450 level at 11,445, down 38.20 points with HPCL and NTPC drove the loss. On the sectoral stocks, the Nifty Pharma stocks shed the most followed by auto & realty stocks.
