Congratulations to all who are collecting your PSLE results today!! If you think you did well, it's a good thing. If you scored below 200 like me many years ago, take heart, the whole world hasn't ended.. not yet for you. And you shouldn't feel that way at all! I'm still ALIVE and KICKING ASS, still earning and GROWING my ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ, found a PARTNER and had a jolly GOOD time, and of course, ENJOYING LIFE to the fullest! Guys, your PSLE results don't matter. It doesn't matter if you fail at such an early age. WHY? Because it only serves as a feedback to how you should work on yourself. There is no such thing as failure, only feedback. If you suffered setbacks like me before, you should know that it's time for you bark up and use your youth to pursue your dreams no matter what happens. For the first time, the highest and lowest scores for the Primary School Leaving Examinations were not published when the results were released to graduating Primary Six students on Friday.
I remember when I took my PSLE, it was nerve-wrecking for me and I didn't think that I would be able to do the papers, especially the Math Paper. There were like problem sums at the end of the paper and each question is worth like at least five to six marks and if you dwell on one question for too long, you might not be able to finish the paper in time and that's when you might fail the paper.
When I got back my results, well all I could remember was that the top scorer nationwide was from RGS and she had a score of 294 out of 300. I was amazed. How is that even possible? Getting the results was not the only thing that I had to face. I had to face the looks that others gave and of course,my mum's nagging. Boy, am I glad that's over!
Choosing secondary school was another issue for me. I could not choose schools near me and thus I had to travel to a further place to attend my secondary school. Thankfully, there was a direct bus for me to get to school and go home.
Announcing the bottom and top scores were pretty much detrimental to the students that were taking the PSLE for those years before 2013. How would you feel if you were in their shoes? If they did well, then okay but if they didn't? One would feel extremely disgraceful and his or her self-confidence would drop.ย
The fact that they had stopped announcing the top and bottom scores but instead name out those that did relatively well is a good way to boost the morale of the students. I feel that it doesn't mean if you don't score the highest, your effort should not be recognized, it should.ย
