okay so i setup SABnzbd and a usenet indexer/downloader and WOW
first of all, it's using SSL in theory there's no need for a VPN which given the currently VPN bans going around is a plus.
THE SPEEEEEED! so I have fibre symetrical gigabit internet over ethernet and let me tell you I'm maxing that puppy out!! A 20.5GB file downloaded in 5 mins 49 seconds at an average of 60.2 MB/s with peaks of up to 105MB/s!!
Now granted you do have to pay (I'm paying about $9.99 per month for my usenet service and $16 per year for my indexer) but that's really good considering what I have access to.
I have it setup with SABnzbd which acts as my download client, and then Prowlarr which acts as my indexer for Sonarr and Radarr. All this meads that I can use my existing setup with this and also keep using torrents as a backup if usenet fails and it's all in one place. Only bad thing is my dashy is looking a little crowded:
