Capitalist Myth: If we provide everyone their basic needs; Food, Water, Clothing, Healthcare, and Shelter, then they won’t have incentives to work and the economy will collapse. Reality: With no reason to do long hours of meaningless hard work in a shitty job, for shit pay to simply to scrape by, and not outright die, people will not only be happier, but more productive on their own time. Crafts. Society will have artisans again. People will make stuff they want to make.
Crafts people already do their hobbies under capitalism, but it means they must sacrifice a lot of time they would like to put towards their hobby, performing the mindless grind for just over base survival. If we provided the basics, craft people could work their magic and make beautiful things again. Modern society has lost too many artisans thanks to capitalism. It’s time to reclaim our free time.
