Proverbs 18:10 (ESV)

“Some seasons try to pull the ground from under me, and I find myself just sitting, heart heavy, searching for comfort. It’s in those quiet places: sometimes on the floor, sometimes with tears: that God’s Word lands different.

Scripture doesn’t always remove the storm, but it reminds me I’m never alone in it.

After all these years, I have several, but this is one verse I hold onto when it all gets too much:

Proverbs 18:10 (WEB), “The LORD’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.”

I like this translation, because the emphasis isn't on running into the Tower, it's running to Him, our Lord, our Heavenly Father; He is our safe place.

This verse was written before Jesus came as our Lord and Savior. The Lord we can also run to now is into the arms of Jesus, where we will always be safe, loved and protected.

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.
