hey as a danish (former) agriculture/farming student i cant believe i didnt know abt "The Danish Protest Pig"
So in 1848 denmark and prussia were fighting (again) and denmark won some territory in current-time northern germany. Ten years later the prussians retook those areas and apparently the farmers were deeply unhappy with that, as the citizens in the territory under prussian occupation seemed to have preferred the previous rule. A rule was instated that the citizens werent allowed to display the danish flag anywhere.. U can see where this is going They chose the wildest option and bred pigs in danish colours, red and white, thus.. the protest pig.
