I wonder if there is a reason why the "Change everything relating to japan" localization thing isn't as prominent anymore outside of already established series.
I want to say 'because it's a very shitty thing to do and companies learned better in due time', but I bet it's more because as the world became more interconnected thanks to the Internet, and Anime became Mainstream, it saved these companies money and time to not have to think how to adapt these things anymore.
