Prompt #44
BBC, Lestrade/Molly
Greg has never felt so off-kilter. He wants to ask Molly out - and has for quite some time, but the time never feels right and he’s beginning to wonder if he’s waited too long and missed his chance as they’re getting toward friends territory now and that would just feel uncomfortable.
He finally gets the courage up, and is going to ask Molly out for dinner (hoping he can work in something a little more romantic some point), but everything is going wrong. Cases cropping up when he’s stopped by to talk to her in the morgue, or called on the phone by work, or his ex, or a pipe burst and his house is flooding, his cat’s gone missing, a member of his team got arrested, his children got sick, are vomiting all over school and could he please come get them? Sherlock demanding attention and being oblivious to this, of all things.
Basically, anything and everything you can think of to throw in his path and frustrate his efforts. The funnier the better. Of course, it has to end happily, so eventually he gets his opening and we have a successful acceptance of a date. (I’d actually like the date to happen in a subsequent fic since this one is all about getting together to begin with). Bonus points if at some point he just gets so frustrated and paranoid of being interrupted again, that he just kisses her to get his point across.
