“I’m not doing it.” Derek stood firm, staring at his agent, his mouth turned down. “That’s not good publicity.”

Her lips were turned down just as much, displeased as she often was with Derek’s choices. “But you’re listed as one of Canada’s top ten most eligible bachelors. It’s for charity. You can’t say no to that.”

“Watch me.”

Once upon a time, what Derek wanted--or didn’t want as the case may be--Derek got. Now, however, he had to answer to an agent, a manager, and the public. He won’t ever admit it out loud, but these days it’s Caroline who often gets what she wants rather than him. At the very least, he’d put up a valiant fight.

Her lips, similarly were turned downward, pleading with Casey. “It’s just silly. For fun.”

“Maddie,” Casey shook her head, turning away from her friend to shift paper piles on her desk in an effort to look busy, “no.”
