What was that? A gun? In this forest? She can feel the adrenaline rushing through her veins; no matter how hard she tries not to be excited about what could potentially be dangerous to her, her mind cannot clear itself. Human. Human. There might be someone, somewhere.

She does not know where this sudden thrill comes from; not once has she wished for another one of her kind. This is new, and strange, but real, and she has little to no time to overthink it. She runs upstairs and looks for something that might help her investigate the source of the bang, but the moment she set foot in her own room, she freezes.

Something is different, she immediately thinks, but that cannot be. Nothing could have possibly changed.

A letter that says that Lux isn't herself, but the soul of a dead one, and that she changes to someone else every eight days, embodying the soul of someone who has deceased during that period. A letter signed by Evelyne, someone who had been watching her every day, someone who had been protecting her, from what appears to be no one else but the entire world, from people who fear the strangeness, the uniqueness, the potential within her. And in this very letter, which drastically turns her peaceful life in the woods upside down; in this very letter, Evelyne - her only protector - predicts that she will be dead by the time this letter is in Lux's hands. She is left with this truly terrifying information, and herself, and will soon be standing against the entirety of humanity.

oc introduction - evelyne from project x protagonist’s protector, nineteen, f, white

maybe it is the smell of fresh notebooks, or the sound of her pen scratching the sheets, leaving a stream of ink - there is something about notebooks that fascinates and inspires her every time. she uses her family wealth to hoard them, keeping them in her little bedside drawer as if they were her most precious treasures. because they are.  she wants to portray everything in her notebooks, for later generations to be able to fathom the way of life, ‘in the older days’. she has been called dark and pessimistic for thinking about death so much, but she doesn’t mind. her notebooks contain drawings, notes about scientific developments, news in all kinds of branches - and lately, the observations of someone who she cannot quite identify, but is keen on investigating about.

she has always been fond of notebooks - but she has never even considered the fact that they might save a human being.

until now, that is.

i have to admit i haven’t worked on any of my wips for quite some time but this is my last line from project x!

The rain has made the air a bit stickier than before; mother nature always leaves traces wherever she has the opportunity to.

“you don’t understand”, evelyne cries out, throwing herself on the bed. her soul is melting, melting away into nothingness. she doesn’t have to hear the door being shut to know that she is all alone. she always is.

“you don’t understand anything. think about someone else, for once, stop making everything about you. think about what’s at stake. for once!”

deep down, she knows that her words are but broken promises. she knows. broken promises. tragical paradoxes. they are nothing. and with each second, her soul keeps flowing, flowing out of her body into the dry, cold sheets that used to welcome her home - now, nothing. white. the devoid of colour makes her want to gauge her eyes out. she can almost feel a corpse under her fingertips, and she screams, trying to get lux’s face out of her mind.
