Well here we are! Week 1 is complete and week 2 has begun. Now a quick look back at we we covered in the first week.
Routine Selected based on First Phase Goals - Check
Measurements - Check
Weight - Check
Before Photos - Check
Now going into week 2 it would be crazy to already check my progress on the above mentioned areas. With that said a reminder of the work "patience" needs to come into play. I do not plan on checking my progress until after week 3. I will then compare and blog about my progress., however the above mentioned areas can but currently do not play a role in the emotional side of this. (* I say currently because again it's only been 1 week)
So one thing we have been blessed with as human beings is "Drive". No, I am not talking about an action movie here. I am talking about motivation, a reason or determination for doing what we do.
Throughout my journey I have helped others and myself by way of online challenge groups, group meet ups at the gym and more. But what I find to be the missing ingredient in the daily routine in almost everyone I meet, is a lack of self confidence. A lack of "Drive". It seems that most almost always plague themselves with a bit of doubt for one reason or another. THough I can't really dive into what exactly affects every individual, (which is impossible via the word individual) I know what has worked for myself and others that also add this to their daily routine. Not just gym or exercise routine, but their daily routine of life.
When we are children we are always showered with belief, or at least I hope you were as well. As a child we did not always have "it all" but I always remember my parents and grandparents telling me that I can be anything I want to be, or I can do anything. They made me feel like I was blessed. It didn't matter where we came from. It didn't matter where we lived or how big our house was. All that mattered was that I mattered. That we mattered. Now as a child with a high amount of imagination, ( I had tons and still do) imagine how much that can affect ones train of thought! You take a child daily and pump him full of belief and knowledge and the possibilities are endless! I STILL to this day believe I can do anything I put my mind to. Seriously. AND I STILL to this day pump my mind and thoughts full of what is known as "Personal Development" reading, writing and audio.
It is absolutely key. It is a missing factor as I said before. How can you began to work on yourself, your body without focusing on your mind? Crazy right?!
Along with this first phase, I have also ensured to keep my mind in the right place. Not enough time in the day to squeeze this in is absolutely no excuse. Here's what I do. I connect my cell phone to my stereo, turn on youtube or one of the audiobooks in which I have purchased, and I listen to it on the drive to and from work. That's it. That's about 1 hour a day of Personal Development Maintenance.
Who or what do I listen to do you say? Well there are tons of audio and press out there that can speak to every individual. Here is a few of my favorites and why.
Jim Rohn- This guy is the man. You probably have heard a few quotes of him and his philosophy and not even know it.
Grant Cardone - One of my absolute favorite, no holds barred, speakers. Tells it like it is.
Gary Vaynerchuk - I may have spelled this wrong (if you Gary, ever read this I apologize lol) but this guy is reaching me personally and professionally on every level right now.
These are just a few that are off the top of my head. I know a few females who love a book titled "You are a Badass". Just dive in. Start by the few I mentioned above and trust me, you will find something that grabs you and appeals to your current state of mind. And then, build from there.
Now I know this Blog is probably about 2 times longer than you expected, and a lot less about exercise than expected, BUT it is important ad does play a key role in this project.
So now go out find something great!
